For the good of Strictly's future. John must go next week. Anyone agree?

Or am I the only one that finds John as arrogant and cocky as the judges?

I find him intelligent & well-spoken, unlike the judges who are mealy-mouthed & irritating.

His dancing is poor, but he entertains me. When the public have had enough, they'll let him go.

I find him highly intteligent and articulate. With a very sharp wit and an excellent sense of humour self depricating and humble.

But not arrogant and cocky read into that what you will.

I will be voting for Rachel or Austin, depending on whose dance impresses me more on the night, but if more people wish to vote for John and Kristina, then I will be happy with the result.

A charming and witty man.

You can't actually 'get him out', like Big Brother. But you can try to dissuade others from for voting him. Methinks people will make up their own minds and would not tolerate if they perceive you are telling them what to do. Hence, by creating such a thread, such people with a knee-jerk reaction will vote John even more, thus ensuring his journey all the way to the finals.

I don't like John's dancing now, and will start to vote for my favourite(s) on the night.

A smug, pompous, arrogant, egotistical, selfish, unpleasant man (IMO). The sooner he goes the better. I liked him to start off with, but now I see through him and want him gone.

P.S. I adore Kristina and think it's a real shame she's not with someone who is at least making an attempt to learn to dance.

ah you are so wise in the ways of SCD

I'm planning to do as you are - pro votes for the ones I think danced the best

As a student of politics and an admirer of John's style and delivery throughout his BBC career, I can tell you that I have seen him referred to as witty, charming, incisive, authoritative, self-effacing.......oh the list goes on.

The only time I have seen or heard any references to John as either smug or arrogant have been on Digital Spy.

Funny that, isn't it?

Not really, there has been a terrible epidemic of smugitis on this board this year. Doctors are trying to get to everyone to innoculate, but the epidemic took them by surprise and so there may still be frequent outbreaks through the coming weeks!

Aren't we in danger of forgetting the real villian in all this? namely Cherie Lunghi?

As I'm sure she's behind it all

Please no, it will be the beginning of the end for SCD just as Michelle McManus caused the end of Pop Idol.

Oh no!

We'll have to try liquidising a thesaurus and putting the worst offenders on an intravenous drip - at least we might get a few altenatives to the 's' word.

I kind of feel sorry for him - he's being kept in by voting public. He has to put on a brave face knowing he cant dance and the judges are going to have a go at him, but there's nothing he can do about it until he's voted off. If the programme makers decide not to take the public vote anymore, then they'll lose the money they're making from the phonecalls so its a question of whether they want to continue to be greedy or not.
Personally I don't find him entertaining like others do - I'm getting a bit fed up with it and tune out when he comes on. I like to see good or improved dancing but thats my reasons for watching it.
I also get a bit fed up with people voting everytime a judge says something nasty about the person. Its very childish and knee-jerky, but there is an element of this with the GBP.

Some people like John and some people don't, if you're taking Strictly as a DANCE competition (which it is) then he should go because he's not a talented dancer, but if you take it on the flip side that it's an entertainment show (which it is also) then why shouldn't he stay in.
It's the public who choose who they want to stay in the competition and he is obviously (whether it be right or wrong) very popular with the majority of the public. As someone said before, once the public hav had enough they'll stop voting for him.
I'm not a John fan but i can see both points to this argument.

Who?

Darren Gough did that already.

This is an entertainment show with celebs not a search for an unknown new star.

Now Heather's gone after being in the bottom 2 so often, people will find someone else they don't like and stop voting for them. Let's hope it's John. He's beyond a joke, he doesn't even try, last week he walked most of the time. If he's not fit enough to dance, he should go.

At least we know, that if he is in the bottom 2 he'll go. There's no way the judges are going to keep him in. I feel sorry for his partner, she's been landed with the worst contestant ever, yet has to choreograph a new dance each week for someone who doesn't even want to try.

However, I feel sorry for whoever will be in the bottom 2, if John is kept in again. It's one thing to be voted out because the other dancers are better than you, but to be voted out because Joe Public is playing silly games must be mortifying.

Pop Idol was simply renamed X factor. And Steve Wittgenstein's (was that his name?) win didn't end X Factor either.

John, I would argue, is actually raising the profile of the series.

I think it's a good bet that Wittgenstein was a better singer.
