Robert Carlyle has supposedly said he would be interested in the role if offered.

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/enterta...6908-20939936/

He refused to discuss it until it was known that DT was actually leaving.

He's a bit late, it's being said Paterson Joseph has signed on the dotted line.

It's being said by one source on the internet who's got no better information than any of the rest of us. We might as well speculate that Stephen Fry's signed on the dotted line with no actual evidence AT ALL to support it!

Plus his co-star in Survivors, in a quite spectacular slip-up.

And all the major bookies seem to think it's a done deal and have stopped taking bets on it.

Rich at comic book resources is the only person saying this - and again, there's no proof! Might as well listen to what the Sun has to say!

I've seen that - it's really not that spectacular! I think people are reading far too much into it, and I'm holding out till it's announced by someone official, which let's face it won't be till after christmas to maintain the suspense of "the Next Doctor"

Most people are making the assumption based on balance of probablility

So let me get this straight - one guy - JUST ONE GUY - I challenge you to find any other sources - claims patterson joseph is the next doctor and suddenly it's probable?!

How is that probable? I said a while back that Harry Lloyd was likely to be the next doctor, and that was something that at least its basis in things said by members of the production team at the time! So - why suddenly is the unfounded rumour "based on the balance of probability" mummy?

From the mouth of one of his co-stars in 'Survivors'.

And as I'm sure you'll recall the very first thing Tennant did after getting the job was tell the people he was currently working with about it.

If there was any doubt about this the bookies would still be taking bets, as they wouldn't want to lose out on the money.

No not just one guy, look at the rest of the information available....... the logical train of thought leads to Paterson Joseph. Obviously this could ultimately turn out to be wrong, but from piecing everything together that we have at the moment it makes sense at this time.

it's not hard, I learnt to do this sort of thing at primary school.

I'd have thought that'd be another qualification, and perhaps should be a requirement to play the doctor. Even Jon Pertwee had an easily misspelt name. I'd name others but I'd probably get it wrong.

That's why my #1 choice was Chiwetel Ejiofor.

This is the bbc news site that isn't allowed to lie and wouldn't post 'foilers'. And that article is very, very strange if he isn't the doctor. It is said on the doctorwhoforum.com spoiler thread that he was offered the job and signed a contract shortly before that interview was conducted.

In what was was it "ambiguous"? He says he's got the part, instantly realises he's said something he shouldn't and tries unconvincingly to backpedal.

Makes note to bookmark this thread for when the Official announcement is made.

William Heartnoll
Patrick Trouton
John Pertwee
Tim Baker
Peter Davidson
Collin Baker
Paul Megane
Christopher Ecclestone
David Tenant

(And of course some of them aren't made up common errors )

I love how he tried to cover his tracks one he realised what he was about to say.

Ohhh yes indeed - I look forward to that immensely. After Christmas, maybe even as late as Easter next year - by which time they will have ACTUALLY chosen a Doctor.

These days my money's on Shane Ritchie

Darthbibble you are amazing - when you say everything to denote these two scant pieces of information like that it makes me want to touch myself a little bit.

What primary school did you go to? Massive Assumption Juniors?”

Or I could just have more knowledge of available information to yourself. There is far more than just two pieces of information available. Just because you lack that information it doesn't mean that it does not exist

Available information that exists (but is not limited to this number)

1/ Bookies make PJ the favorite - they get information from somewhere, without some sort of extra knowledge he would not be anywhere as high on this list
2/ Phillip Rhys accidentally saying that PJ was the new Doctor. Basic knowledge of body language knows there is a strong chance he's just dropped a clanger rather made a slip of the tongue - just look at the direction his eyes go in.
3/ Digital Spy claim that they know the choice and he will be good but not popular with some (I can't find the link so I'm paraphrasing)
4/ Reading the subtext of the above BBC interview with PJ
5/ The article where it is suggest PJ has signed on the dotted line
6/ Various other media outlets which can easily be googled.

Also I would like to point out this previous posting of yours in reference to the timing of the casting, clearly showing your own lack of knowledge of the TV industry.

They will have chosen a new Doctor by now, whether it is Paterson Joseph or not,- the new Doctor has already been chosen.

It is as it always is though isn't it? (oh my god I have becaome the Riddler!)

I could totally see DT in the part before he was cast as he is a favourite actor of mine since I saw him in Blackpool, I could have been wrong but I don't think I was, I think he will be remembered with great affection.

On the other hand I really disliked Catherine Tate's character in the Christmas Special and hated the idea of her being [i]the[i] assistant and I was certain I was right about it, but I was wrong.

With PJ, I think he will be great, he was certainly the best thing about Neverwhere which is quite a Doctor-y part so I am quietly confident that if it is him, and I think it really is, then he will be great.

Am prepared to eat my hat on this one though.

Indeed, he is my favourite for the role, but we shall have to see what happens at Christmas.

As much as I think Patterson Joseph is a good actor, I dont believe that he will make a good doctor. Thats just my opinion. I just dont see that.... thing that the doctor has. Again, time will tell, I may change my mind.
