Yes to bring it back on topic I agree with you it would be great if the show was to turn around and be abit more like AI, But Simon wont let that Happen IMO. As I think for him its about making money quick and fast (eg xmas number one etc) As I dont see him having the long priorite for the artists.

I don't think Diana is anything like Adele, Duffy or Amy Winehouse, all strongly influenced by jazz and rhythm and blues music. Diana is far more folk orientated, a music genre i happen to like. I like her because I find her voice interesting to listen too. I find her performances refreshing for this type of show but its unlikely i'll buy her album as she is on X Factor which means all her songs will be drivel written by dodgy songwriters.

Lets get this straight, there are lots of people like me who hate singers like Alex and Laura who try to fit in a thousand notes when one would do. Its the same reason I turn over any Mariah Carey/Whitney/Celine Dion/Christina or Leona Lewis song, I really hate that style of singing. Some people will tell me that these artists are the best female singers in the world, I disagree as they can't reflect any emotion in their voices, too busy trying for that top E. I prefer singers like Annie Lennox and Chrissie Hynde. Artists who can portray the emotion of the words. I think Diana is the closest the X Factor has had to that sort of performer. Will Young was probably the only artist I've seen on any of these shows who actually tries to connect with the song and he has got the success he derserves from that. I really beleive Diana will have the same success.

The winner of the x factor is the person each year who the public like and vote for more than the other contestants in that series.

Yes, it's certainly about Simon and the money. But remember he's chucked 'Imagine' at Eoghan this year (Archie had it last) and gave Austin the same arrangement of Billie Jean that Cook did. Simon may be brilliant at business but he doesn't take risks. He copies what already works.

Given that particularly Jason was 'well-received' by the AI audience despite his dreads, folkiness and small voice, it wouldn't surprise me if Simon thinks more contemporary-sounding people would go down well on XF too. Simon's already stated he wants an Amy Winehouse, so I think we can expect to see more contemporary contestants on XF, which can only be a good thing for viewers like me.

World class artists usually don't win though. Leona is the only winner that could come close to meeting that description.

Someone looking at the 12 X factor finalists and picking which one of those 12 that they like the best is nothing to do with thinking that they're a world class artist, its them forming a view on which of those 12 acts they prefer - nothing more.
