couldn't disagree with you more. Alex and Laura are no more than Backing vocalists. They have no potential to be anything but that.

I just love listening to her voice. She is like a cross between Dido and Kate Bush meets Sinéad O'Connor.

And I reckon she'll sell just as much as them.

If Laura truly has the potential to become a world class artist, she'll do it anyway - a minor detail like getting voted off X factor should have no real impact if she really is that talented.

(And I hope she does go on to do well btw, I think she was great, its just the X factor viewers probably weren't really her ideal audience.)

There's also a bit of Tori Amos in there and a little known American artist from years ago called Toni Childs.

She's a breath of fresh air compared to the usual Whitney/Mariah/Christina wannabes we have on the show, and I think for that reason alone she is proving popular.

You need to take someone who's not a huge x factor fan, someone who watches the show but dosen't come on messageboards etc, my Mum is one of those people.

And she has said two things

Diana is to good for the show and the others are all clones

I just wonder if a lot of people are thinking that

Nail/head. The viewing audience has moved on from purely wanting the melisma/diva singers. Long may it etc.

Given that particularly Jason was 'well-received' by the AI audience despite his dreads, folkiness and small voice, it wouldn't surprise me if Simon thinks more contemporary-sounding people would go down well on XF too. Simon's already stated he wants an Amy Winehouse, so I think we can expect to see more contemporary contestants on XF, which can only be a good thing for viewers like me.

I dont get me wrong I would love X factor to be different eg Contemp, Rock, Folk etc. But Simon cant do this unless he gets rid of Dannii Louis and Cheryl. As thay all pick the same acts its the sob stories or the cute factor etc.

For Simon to do this he need to get an all round team from different music genre who will be willing to put these acts through.

i tell you what, i would love them to change the categories to genres, so have a pop category, a rock category, a R&B category and a Blues category. That would be so much more interesting than the generic age/Sex/Group categories.

Lady I know you keep asking your mum a lot but dont forget she just on person out of 12 million who watch the show. And everyone of them are not going to agree with your Mum. ( I not saying your mums view rong I just saying yu cant judge it just on that )

Plus its was also said about Ben in XF 3 he was rock, he was fav at the start because he was different. And it made a change but people got fed up of him and when back to the same style of singer eg Leona.

Good points. Since I'm one of the people who suspect that the judges (three of them, anyway) have less say in who goes through than the producers do, I don't know whether that would achieve anything. But if I'm completely wrong about that, yes, it would be great to have judges who don't mostly represent pop chart music of some time ago.

At the very least, Louis has to go. He really does.

I think it's different this time. Have you seen Diana's facebook? that's the largest anyone on X Factor has ever had. She is favourite with the radio 1 and 2 listeners and lots of people who wouldn't normally watch the X Factor are watching for Diana. They keep saying it so it must be true.

Brillant. I vote for a genre split to the categories. (Don't know about Blues, tbh, but the idea of doing it this way is very sound.)

That would be great and all the artists had to do it in that genres eg eggnog had to sing in rock style , Alex had to sing in folk style, Diana had to sing in RnB style, Rachel has to sing in country style.

That would sure sort out who was a one trick ponys to the ones who was a great singer that had versatility.

I have to disagree here. Don't confuse great singers with versaltility. Frank Sinatra was a great singer but would have sounded terrible singing R&B, garage or pop.

You just dont get it do you.

12 million people watch X factor out of them 12 million you get about 200,000 on the net loving Diana, that leaves 11.8 million that are not on the net. So really the fans on the net only make 2% of the X factor viwers.

So you have another 98% of viewers. Who for all you know could dislike Diana and love Eggnog.

There's nothing really to get. If those figures are even just a small % they are a strong indication of who is more popular.

It's actually the same sort of format that BARB use for producing the ratings. They measure 200,000+ homes and then add to it to get the total of 12 million who watch.

Well you think they would represent the majority, when polls are done about who is going to the win the election if a person has a 10 per cent lead in those pollls they usually win and that poll could have been only 2000 people

Sorry but I think your wrong Fanky sang with many blues singers and as RnB came from the blues I think he would have been great.

Rhydian last year was popular alround the net. Yet was not with the higher % that didnt go on the net.

So your theory has already been proven wrong.

Rhydian wasn't though. Not on the same scale at all. I remember how disliked he was until about week 7.
