I've read a number of threads recently where people have reported issues with their DHD4000 locking up or not responding. I've also just had a similar problem, a couple of weeks ago the box just started to not coming out of standby intermittently or would intermittently just stop responding to the remote while on. Temporarily fixed each time by power cycling.
Initially I thought in might be caused by a fault with the RF signal in, because there was some interference on the TV on analogue channels. I fixed the interference, caused by a loose aerial connection, but box behaviour didn't change.
Since then it has got worse and now the box will hardly work for 20 mins without becoming dead to remote or front panel buttons. If it's on it will happily continue to show the current channel though.
I've tried both the disk check tests on the maintenance menu and I've also started collecting the logs (but can't see anything obvious in them - what should I look for?). I cleared the EPG as well but none of this seems to help.
Next thing I will try is removing all the stored programs in case 1 is corrupt but as I have several of these it will take me a while to copy them off (BTW, I have modded the box to have switchable USB access to the HD).
Of the faults I've read about maybe someone could comment on the likelihood of each being the issue:

Faulty PSU - anyone know the symptoms?
HD errors - wouldn't this have been detected by the tests?
Corrupt File - Is this a possibility when the problem exists when in standby (i.e. no buffering)
BTW: The sw version is 2.3.9
Thanks,
Mark
