Missing Freeview Channels & Wrong Channel Numbers

Common Freeview problems such as missing channels and wrong channel numbers can be caused by Freeview EPG updates. To fix the problem, delete your current EPG channel list and then carry out a full channel re-installation using your Freeview boxes "automatic" or "manual" installation mode. Refer to your Freeview box user manual for details of how to do a full re-install.

but still the problem persists. MUX C and D produce correct type numbers.

Yep; but it sounds like he may have firmware on there that doesn't support the split-NIT now in use on Freeview; if he wants Freeview+ functionality, he should be using 5.14.09+ if it's a 5800 or 5.15.09+ if it's a 5810.

If it's a 5800 and he's not worried about Freeview+, then the recommended firmware is 5.13.65NITfix

Can you clarify to me, what Freeview+ does in addition to what the 5800 can do any way, and what split NIT is?

Freeview+ provides automatic series links, so when you press record in the EPG, you'll be asked if you want to record the whole series.

split NIT is a configuration change made to Freeview earlier this year; if a box doesn't support it properly, channels may appear on the wrong numbers when you scan

I can personally recommend 5.13.65NITfix, it does not support series recording (I stopped using this because of lots of problems). Other than this it seems to be a very stable firmware. If there are any bugs I have not found any
