Another thing about it is the production. There doesnt seem to be pointless scenes (like morning scenes) and no gimmicky joining together shots (like the chickens or a wasp floating in the pool). It has the BB1 feel about it.

Its better off for it.

It is somehow, in a small way, making up for the crapola that was BB4

Has anyone else noticed a distinct lack of nostalgia for the previous occupants of the house? When BB4 started I kept thinking things like, that's where the sink was in BB3, that's where Jade and Jonny had a slanging match, I wonder if that stain where Kate threw up is still there, although I knew the house had been redesigned the housemates from BB3 had made their mark. In Teen BB I haven't even thought about the BB4 nonentities that were there even though the house is unchanged.

Please, please Endemol, take some clues and hints from teen BB and make note for BB5.

I thought I was going to hate it -- who wants to spend time watching teenagers being teenagers if you don't have to? -- but boy, was I wrong. It's everything we want BB to be. It's people being themselves and not playing up to the camera, people saying whatever comes to their minds without worrying about what the viewers will think, there's fighting, sex, more fighting, tears. And that's just the first couple of days.

And not a drop of booze in sight.

It shows how much fun BB could be...but probably won't ever be again.

And it shows what undiluted, mindboggling cr*p BB4 was.

Do you think it is so good because when they participated in it they didn't think it was going to be shown on prime time TV, but a school programme??

I reckon Endemol knew it would end up on C4 at 10.00p.m. from the beginning. (I wonder if C4 have to pay more if it's not and educational prog?)

I don't suppose that they thought about it too deeply but the fact that there is no public voting could affect their behaviour - no need to play up to the cameras, no need to keep their heads down for fear of being labelled bitchy or loud or annoying

if we went some way towards the US version and had HMs doing the evictions, the main BB could be like this

It's the knowledge that the public are voting on them that stops HM being themselves

I know - it will never happen. Too much cash at stake to do away with public voting

I have never seen either Teen BB or US BB, but I don't really see how eviction by HMs rather than by the public would produce more natural behaviour. Don't they still feel they have to conform to a particular pattern of behaviour in order to avoid eviction?

Without the public vote there is no need to manipulate the public....we're getting the action as it is, not how they want to present it......And even if we aren't it's still damned good fun

You mean there is no need for the programme makers to manipulate the public? Yes, I can see that, but that's a separate matter from the HMs' natural (or unnatural) behaviour.

Take the multitude of sins that come under the general heading of ' playing up to the cameras '

If there is no public voting there is no need for them to do it

It becomes a game amongst themselves rather than having them appealing over the heads of their fellow HM to the outside jury, the voters

I think that at least 50% of the playing up to cameras is for "opportunities" that may present themselves when the HM's leave the house, after all the HM's that have managed to carve themselves careers (however short they may be) post BB earn much more than the 70K prize for winning the public's affection.

I really don't think that abolishing the public vote a la US BB would stop the playing up to cameras. I didn't watch an awful lot of US BB (especially not the weekly shows because of the awful, continuous, background music that seems to be a feature of all US reality shows) so can't comment on that evidence.

I love it, far better than BB4. Perhaps Endemol could come up with a way of the public voting that would get round the playing to the cameras. Not that I've got a clue how they could work that though.

Perhaps they could tell the HMs that their evictions are being done at random, just being picked from a hat from the HMs nominations - by a producer or something (let's face it, the producers never have a hand in choosing who'll be evicted ). When in actual fact you could still have the public vote, to please £ndemol, therefore eliminating thoughts of playing up to the cameras, yet still getting the money rolling in for that wonderful company.
