Nokia unlock

I bought a Nokia 6111 about 18 months ago from Tesco on the Tesco network - I topped it up several times but then decided to go back to my PAYG O2 - I have called Tesco for unlock code and they have now - after several weeks waiting - sent the instructions to me by email - I have entered code as instructed but it won't work - email advises if this doesn't work I have to send phone to them to be unlocked by cable - whats all that about - My son had an Ericsson which he unlocked using the code they gave him by telephone - am well pi**ed of - whats going on ?????

What message appeared on the screen when you entered the code ?
If you post me your IMEI number I will generate the unlock code for you.
