Sony Ericsson W760i
Hi there, I'm in the market for an M2 memory card and spotted a good sandisk 8GB memory card for £20 on amazon. It states on there that it is compatible with my phone (W760i), however sony states my phone is only capable of 4GB. I've since heard theres a way to change this and increase the memory, is anyone aware of what this is?
Thanks. |

according to reviewers who have used it, the w760i is capable of 8GB Quote:
Sony Ericsson W760i Review linkReviewed by Grant from UK on 9th Sep 2008 ive just got this phone its great, enione tht says its not it is and it takes an 8gb card as im using one now and its fine, all the functions are amazing and work perfectly the phone wualits is good and the battery life is awsome lasts for ever and also looks slick lol, fast menu's and no crashing or white screens etc 100% perfect reccomend buy if you like walkman phones as i do ive had 3 and this is the best so far, speakers are also v.good and are very loud and clear no rattling or crackling. Rating: ***** Outstanding so you should be okay, cubby ![]() it may be that Sony says 4gb, only because that was the largest capacity available at time of writing. (eg when the k800i came out 2 years ago, Sony said the maximum for that was 2gb, which is not actually true, but was true at the time only because 2gb was the largest card available then.) |

hello again cubby ![]() here's another W760i review that states under 'Specifications' that it can take up to 8gb Quote:
Specifications of Sony Ericsson W760i so i am sure that must be correct... however i take no responsibility if they are wrong!Memory: 38 Mb of user memory Memory Stick Micro (M2) slot, up to 8 Gb if you do get it, please post back to let us know if it was indeed okay |

but that list is patently incorrect. i have a K800 with a 4gb card recognised in it... but according to SE there, it's only compatible up to 2gb. ![]() hmm.....i notice SE's footnote re the p990 that "larger Memory Stick units are likely to function, but no formal tests have been conducted by Sony Ericsson." i am wondering if likewise their stated compatibility for other phones is only for the memory limit that they have formally tested and can guarantee - even if larger ones are "likely to function" |
