Samsung Dvd-r150 Recorder Multi Region

Hi, just purchased the above as an ex. display model from PC World at an incredible price of £49.97!

Question is, is there a 100% proven method of making the unit multi-region. Have read conflicting advise on the net that it can be made multi region - some units have had to then have a software upgrade to make them function properly again.
