As Ruth is so popular on here, i cant believe shes not more popular in the real world. Shes been bottom two twice now, but remains the fave on DS. Are the public not seeing the same thing? or is this a case of people jumping on the bandwagon because shes the most popular act on the forum? are people are conforming to the majority? Because off here, she doesnt seem to have that much support.

Shes one of my faves, so just curious.

To add, in previous years- poll faves have represented the public to an extent- rydian was the fave last year and leona the year before that.

I voted Ruth this week because Diana didn't last week.

DS faves on any reality show rarely win... although Rachel did (BB)

DS is such as small area compared to the 10m+ that watch the X-Factor... so Its by no way a big indication of how she is doing in reality

Believe me MO BB9 was doing well on the BB DS polls and only got 1.7% of the final vote.

I know its not representative, thats why i wonder if its people conforming to the majority of the forum. I.e its ok to say something bad about eggnog but not Ruth or diana.

And leona and ryhdian were at least up there in the top votes. Ruth is nowhere near.. why i find it strange.

Mo was only doing well during spitgate... in the runup to the final he was nowhere near the top.

It was always Rex and Rachel at the top of the DS poll

Sample size on here is reasonable. !0 Million may watch but nowhere near 10 million vote. Sample sizes for polls are normally about 1% to get accurate results

Ruth fits the DS remit for a good finalist IMO- she is the underdog of the competition ie she;'s got a good voice but she wont do that well - top 5 IMO.

The backlash against Eoghan is IMO unfounded. He gets good comments where he probably shouldn't, but so what if he does.

Diana is by far the most popular on youtube and facebook.

I think DS is known for being well off in it's leader polls. Although they did get Rachel's win right for BB. The first time ever for the BB forum I think.

Its a fair sample size. But the point is, its not an unbiased sample, as people know who the faves are on the forum, so people will more likely choose a fave that fits in with the majority (of the forum). So theres a large aspect of band wagon hoping imo.

Voters dont know who the rest of the voters are voting for, and other polls i.e aol- people dont know because its not discussed in a forum.

The aol poll is probably less biased and a better sample size, not sure where she was on that though.

I know the 10m don't vote but a larger % of them do than what vote on this forum. This forum does not pick winners (or the majority don't).

If this forum or indeed the whole of DS did then Rhydian would've won last year, Samanda BB8, Dione would've got to the finals and Aisleyne would've won BB7

She is. I don't think anyone's disputing that. But Ruth has also been one of the most watched contestants on Youtube after Diana, which makes the fact that she's been in the bottom two twice all the more perplexing.

Perhaps the video owners could use Youtube's 'insight' stats to see where most of the traffic is coming from. It's possible that Ruth has garnered a little following outside the UK.

DS are really off this year, the only one that on the polls they like and that the public do too, is Diana. JLS and Eoghan are faves of the public but not so much on DS. I think DS doesn't even make 1 percent fo the final vote because Ruth is another favourite here and she's been in the bottom 2 twice.

Because DS are always out of touch with reality.
What are the kind of people on DS? Cynics, who like to complain about everything. Who never agree with the teen voters, and who in general, like the ones that are not very popular!

Maybe the public are fed up of seeing her dopey eyed stare into the camera, the fling back of the head as thrusts her microphone down by her side, the grabbing of her hair, the breathy panting and desperate look she gives, and the best complete 'look at me, look at me!!' attitude that comes across, she's all teeth and gum's!!

It could be. I've always thought the seemingly unanimous opinion of Ruth on DS was a bit suspect, to be honest! The contestants all have both supporters and detractors here - except Ruth who only seems to have supporters - and I'm not surprised if this isn't being mirrored by the general public.

I also think the way Simon keeps flirting with Ruth isn't doing her any favours on the public vote. Not that he cares because I suspect he already knows what path he's got cut out for her to take regardless of the outcome of the show - but I suspect that plays a part in her not being supported by the public.

Thank God! I grew out of the idea of having to like stuff that was popular a long, long time ago. Some of my favourite bands remain unsigned or are completely obscure, and I couldn't care less.

Miley Cyrus, for example, might be massively popular and making millions every year but it means nothing to me. As far as I'm concerned, her music ought to be classified as a breach of the Geneva Convention.

Just like facebook, youtube and other forums aren't significant factors, just this one poll with less than 1000 votes is not significant when you think about how many people watch and vote for the show.
Eoghan doesn't have much support on here but I bet in the general population he is much more so.

Sympathy voters and "he is well fit" voters are not represented on DS and it is these voters that are the most numerous and decide the outcome.

I was looking closely at the voting on a major poll that has over 300,000 votes and Ruth's votes were going up by the hundreds in block votes every second (very fishy).I've noticed that each time she is overtaken by Rachel the block voting occurs

Haven't noticed this with anyone elses but did find it suspect that Daniel was 3rd with quite a big jump to Eoghan in 4th.

I get very wound up when I see block voting while I'm poll watching

Because DS always goes for the underdog or the one they suspect the producers don't rate. Many that supported Diana at first only did so because she was the dark horse. Now the myth that Ruth is the dark horse is spreading and people are backing her. I think she's better than her bottom 2 position, but still very over-rated on here. "Purple Rain" was great, but "Knocking On Heavens Door" was good as oppose to brilliant, and "Summertime" wasn't even the best performance of Big Band night let alone challenging Leona and Fantasia.
