'Sister Act' to hit West End stage
Quote:
Whoopi Goldberg has revealed that plans are afoot for a London stage version of the movie Sister Act I saw (and subsequently met The 1992 film is being 'redefined' for its UK showing, its leading lady told Radio 1's Newsbeat. A musical stage version premiered in California in 2006 and a UK adaptation will open at the London Palladium on June 2. "We're taking the show and redefining it and making it work," Goldberg said, adding that the main character will be younger than she was in the film. "Sister Act will always live, so let us all get together and breathe life into it together," she said. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/movies/a...end-stage.html ) Rowetta and Sheila Ferguson at The Songs of Sister Act earlier in the year and thought it was fabulous. An actual theatrical version of the film though would be absolutely amazing, and I'd certainly make a trip with my mates to go see it.Brilliant idea, giving that I had such an amazing night in February. |

Anyone else think this is committing suicide going into the Palladium?
It already tanked in the US, and ok, so apparently it's been completely reworked, but seriously? For me, it's going to come down to casting over whether I go see it. Sharon D Clarke's name is getting thrown around quite a bit, which would be awesome. I think it's really gonna need a heavy weight cast or I can't see it lasting long. |
