Ipod touch

I have a good phone with a 8MP camera so avoided the Iphone but is the Ipod any good? I enjoy Wi-fi browsing on my existing phone.

I fancy getting one for Internet as it has wi-fi, games look brilliant on the tv ads and no doubt music will be.

Can you add your own music? and what's the cheapest place to get one? Does it play films?

So has anybody got one and would they recommend I get one?

Yesssss get 1 defo

They are an amazing bit of kit

Yeah u can add your own music, just make sure to add it to itunes library. Movies look really well on it

Id reccommend the 2G one though, the external speaker and volume control on the side is worth it alone

I got my 2G 16GB off ebay for £200 free P&P

I should be getting mine within the next couple weeks . Curry's are currently doing the 16b 2nd generation versions for £219.

I am normally an anti apple person but the ipod touch looks freaking amazing.... I have to get 1 lol .

Oh get one defo...I am a convert...I have thrown my Zen in the bottom of a cupboard and my 32Gb 2G Touch goes everywhere I go. I even love iTunes now and have uninstalled Winamp.

Only prob is I have gone totally OCD and spend hours sorting out my i-choons tagging / artwork / ratings etc.

Oh, and don't even get me started on the power of smart playlists though I suspect you need a degree in Logic and Boolean Algebra to create the smarter playlists !

Oh, did I say ....buy one !!! Now !!!! Your life is worthless without one !!!!! Go on - you know you want to !!!!!!!!

I'm thinking about getting one, but a few questions, (be gentle I know nothing about Apple OS etc)

It's got WiFi, so obviously I can connect to the Internet via my, or anyone else's WiFi network.

Can you also connect to a network such that I can file share between it and the other PCs (windows) on my network ?

I can presumably install I-tunes on my Windows PC, and 'sync' to that via USB, but can I do the same via the WiFi ?

Does the Mail client on there support Usenet (Newsgroups) browsing ?

TIA

Yes you can..I have the last.fm plug in installed in iTunes ( you can even download the last.fm app free for your Touch and access wirelessly ).

The iTunes plug-in will scrobble all your plays once you sync the Touch back to iTunes

I have had mine for about 6 weeks now and took it on a trip to the UK last week (I am based in the Middle East at the moment). It was great. Movies, podcasts, music and wherever it got a wireless signal I could browse the internet and send and receive emails. In future for a trip of a week or two I will consider taking it instead of my MacBook. I have heard that they are working on a virtual keyboard and if that comes to fruition I may not take the laptop on trips very often at all. I think it actually is much better than a netbook and certainly a lot more portable.

This scores 10 out of 10 for me.

ok folks while the ipod touch is a good product the recent software update has now rendered the ability to play out videos and use iplayer on the touch useless (well it has on mine) so don't expect tht to be sorted anytime soon,

Yeah, it's highly annoying; getting the feeling I should've waited to upgrade but hey ho. Apparently the BBC need to add the new Safari browser string so it gets accepted then we will be able to play shows again.
