First things first....Istarted watching Teen BB against my better judgement and expecting to hate it. So far, I've quite enjoyed it, finding it both entertaining, albeit in a watching through your fingers kind of way, and interesting. These youngsters certainly interact more than the BB4 lot and have covered a lot of moral issues in a relatively short time. I can actually see how some parts of the show could be useful catalysts for classroom discussions in secondary schools - upper years only!

Now, on to Tommy and Jade's brief encounter. I know nobody forced them to have sex but surely anyone with any memory of what life as a teenager was like should have realised that this was a possible recipe for disaster! Remember the raging hormones, the occasional, for some people frequent(!), lapses in taste and discrimination? Remember the loss of control, and the remorse which followed?

The way that one thing led to another between T and J was staggeringly casual, a real reminder of how quickly and easily youngsters can get carried away. Now, although condoms should always be to hand in real life casual sexual encounters, I don't blame BB for not providing them in the house as this would have attracted criticism that they were indirectly encouraging sex. BUT....WHY OH WHY OH WHY didn't BB take the incredibly easy step of just calling either Tommy or Jade to the diary room for a "good judgement" chat which could have given them both a cooling off period and a chance to reconsider what they were about to do? They saw fit to haul James in about his rule-breaking on sunglasses and swearing, but nobody thought to try and deflect the much more serious situation between Tommy and Jade. What would the policy be if a fight broke out? Would they just let the hm's slug it out? I think not! I'm appalled that the so-called adults running this thing have displayed such a lack of responsibility.

confused: And sticking eight eighteen year olds in the same bedroom, when most probably all they think about 9 times out of 10 is sex, isn't indirectly encouraging sex then?

They are both ADULTS and not virgins! Shock! They have had sex before!!!

The only difference here was that they had a camera on them instead of meeting at a nightclub and doing it in the car park !!!

That's the way teenagers have sex - it's mean to be meaningless!!! It's a bodily function until they mature enough to have emotional feeling about each other!

If they were 14, then YES BB should act like a parent - I'm sure that as 18 year olds BOTH their parents let them go out and by that understand that they go out and sometimes have sex! - So I'm sure that their own parents don't drive around the streets watching them incase they start something so that they can jump out of the car and stop it.

This is a reallity show - this is reallity (Wheather you or I like it or not!)

Rereading my secong paragraph Susann, I see that I didn't make it clear that the "this" I referred to as being a "recipe for disaster" was chucking them in the same bedroom - sorry- a hazard of long posts and tiredness combined! So, that was the first step to indirectly encouraging sex, providing condoms could have been seen as a step too far.

No probs. On the whole I agree with most of your post.

But you neither have to control or encouraging sex - they are bothe adults who can freely have sex and buy condoms!!!

It sounds like you are talking about them as if they were 14 year olds experimenting and if that were the case I would agree - but they are adults full of hormomes - it's more a case of "Try stopping them" - it's what they do every weekend up and down the country!

No one is saying they shouldn't have sex, that is their choice, it is the situation they have been put in and the possible encouragement of it by C4 or the producers of the show for it, which seems quite blatant to me.

I don't watch TBB to see or not to see the sex scene, I watch it to see how the youngsters get on as a group and interact in their talks and tasks. I am enjoying it more than I thought I would. I just don't see why the sex side has to be the be all and end all for some who watch TBB.

The Tommy & Jade thing was more funny afterwards when they were avoiding each other. It's all over and done with now anyway, they can't turn back the clock.

i actually agree with you KriZ. They are both 18 and I know that casual sexual encounters happen all the time out in the real world between 18 year olds and even under 18s. However, most sexual encounters don't take place in public (at least, not where I live!) and the participants don't have to handle the resulting fall-out in front of their families, tabloid readers and lord knows how many television viewers. The embarrassment must be excruciating. I'm not shocked that they had sex, but I am shocked/disappointed at the way it was allowed to happen. Although 18 is the legal age of majority, some 18 year olds really aren't very mature and don't always think of consequences and implications. I bet neither Tommy or Jade foresaw a time when they might walk down a street followed by jeers of "Look, it's that bloke/bird who shagged on T.V.!"

I do see your point but you don't go on national TV if you are shy!

And if it does turn out to be a BIG mistake then I'm sure that it won't be the only major mistake that they made in their life! (I'm still making them!)

I agree with you, Ed E. A well-timed announcement for one of them to come to the diary room would have broken the moment and allowed BB to remind them of the cameras and the viewing audience, and the possible implications of what they were about to do.

I hope they don't suffer too much backlash or embarrassment after this, they're only young and daft after all.. I don't hold with the 'but they're 18-they're adults!' arguement, they're still kids as far as I'm concerned.

But what you are not seeing is that they don't give a shi* !!!

Teenagers have sex and then don't talk to the person 5 minutes later because they don't care ! - that's cos they have no feelings apart from feeling randy - It is adults here that are putting a big deal on sex! - Teenage sex is no what adult sex is!

They won't be mentally hurt for life, the sky ain't falling in and Tommy will get the normal "Hero-superstud" treatment by his bloke friends and most of the local girls will be queuing up to have sex with that bloke on TV!

I think BB handed it very well.

They are adults and can do what they want with whoever they like (there’s nothing to say two 18 year olds are any less sexually responsible then two 22 year olds in normal BB) but they were told the support on a very personal level was there if needed which is excellent.

Well done to the producers.

Totally agree with you Kriz, they knew what they were getting into from the start and have no reason to complain.

I certainly hope NOT! - I can't stand Paul and I'm gay !!!

Not my type at all - I don't fancy camp ones! But it seems all TV companies think when they get a token poofter "I know let's get an effeminate camp one as that's the stereotype and if we get a straight acting one, no one will know they are Gay and there's no point to that!"

So that's why we get the - Dale Wintons, Keneth Williams, Brians (BB) and now this latest Camp limp wristed one, to keep the stereotype going - We can't let people find out that most Gays do not "Mince around" and put on women's make up and clothes and have no wish to !

I agree that Paul isn't fantastic but he was just the bait to see James at it! I supose if Tommy can work his way through the other two girls he may get around to James eventually
