DHD4000 EPG Not working
syymon
16-11-2008
I have had my DHD since the first week they were released and have been very pleased with it - until now!

Over the last few weeks the EPG has been behaving very strangely. At times it has displayed "program information not available" for several channels and then has gone back to working properly. For the last few days the EPG has returned to its "Now and Next" state that it was in when I first received it.

I have tried retuning and restarting several times but can't seem to change it.

Any ideas.

Thanks.

not happened to me. the only trouble i've had is incorrect info on BBC3 which is a problem of whoever makes the EPG. Have you seen any reports in the engineer's menu? Maybe your signal has gone down at 3am due to the bad weather we've been having. It will stay as "Now and Next" if the EPG has gone until at least the OAD has finished at around 3.40am.

It could be that you have a deteriorating aerial and the signal level for Mux D has dropped below that usable. As the TV channels on Mux D are not among the most popular, you might not have noticed their absence.

Have a look at Mux D on this list http://www.dtg.org.uk/retailer/dtt_channels.html and see if you have the TV channels listed.

If they are missing, then so is 4TV Interactive which supplies the EPG.

Actually, now you mention it, those channels ARE missing. However, it feels like they have been missing for a lot longer than the EPG problems. Maybe that's because 2 weeks EPG was already buffered!

When you say I may have a deteriorating aerial how do you think that's possible? I got the aerial installed at the same time as I bought the DHD. Do you think it can deteriorate in 3-4 years?

Thanks for your info.

If those are missing, then update of the EPG will be impossible.

There is no reason why not, the weather and the birds can take quite a toll on the capabilities of an aerial in quite a short time. It could be that the aerial was only just providing enough signal when it was first installed.

It would be worth having a look at the signal levels for each Mux in the <Setup>/<Technical Help> menu.

I will have a look at that and see if I can make sense of it. I think I will be moving to freesat when the Humax freesat PVR is out and tried.

You will need to identify your transmitter and get the RF channel numbers before you start. If you don't already know them, have a look at this page:
