Pathetic really that people would bring the streets into an event celebrating urban music.

WHAT WOULD LEONA SAY?

It happened at VIBE awards a couple of years ago. Two rappers got into it and someone was stabbed

My son just phoned in a panic. He knows someone died. Chairs were flying everywhere as people were panicking to get out. No news would be released until the police inform the news people.

How do knives get into venues? Well, I went to see Kanye West at the main O2 Arena last week and security was non-existent. There was a guy searching women's handbags but he just waved us (two males) past. Was the security any better at the Urban Music Awards?

By no means do I endorse the behaviour of what has happened at the awards last night, or in general, I think it is disgraceful. HOWEVER, i think your comment is a sweeping generalisation. It is, as always, the minority of people who get involved in things like this. The majority just want to make the music of their choice and then want to go out and celebrate and have a good time.
It is the minority of the GBP that have to continue to do things like this who are scum, and they are not necessarily those involved in urban music

Why? Are some scum not scum just because they're a certain ethnicity?

Where do you get that from?

Do you hear the word 'scum' and think of a certain race?

I was at the O2 with a friend seeing the Wombats and we saw it kick off as we left the venue. Some guy came flying out of the Ingigo at great speed closely chased by security guys. Then as we walked away from the venue there were people coming out of Ingigo and security racing towards the source of the trouble. My mate says she saw 2 men having a punch up- I saw nuffin. We left at that point.

We knew there was a fight but we didnt expect it to be in the news.

I said 'some' might consider it racist, not I consider it racist. Considering urban music is predominantly black influenced I can see how some people woud say it.

shall I apply that comment to Beverley Knight? or to myself for being in her audience? she's 'urban' in HMV when I last looked

I don't often get called 'scum'...perhaps you'd like to clarify your comment?

I think what you struggled to post was that you don't like 'gangsta' culture, which is fair enough.

I is not a gangsta.

I know what you're saying, but it does tend to happen at some events but not at others.
For example it doesn't seem to be a problem at something like The Brits or some other mainstream awards ceremony.

By the way, just to make it clear, I'm not making any sweeping generalisation of a large group of people, but that a certain minority who do spoil it tend to attend certain events but not others.

Personally I think it has something to do with what messages get put across by certain acts. The swagger, lyrical content, and attitudes from some acts tends to attract a certain minority.
