I have been told that the above phone can read text msg's out to you>? is this true and how do you do it?

Well I've searched through my manual from one end to the other and can find no mention of this function I'm afraid.

Perhaps it is a downloadable application??

Nope, this phone can't read text messages out. The phone that does this, is the Nokia 5500 Sport.
