Anything that doesn't let Marvin sing is fine by me. |

Remember who VOTES in X-Factor - its not cool, hip R&B dudes, its grannies and the gullible!! I'll bet they pulled in more votes doing the cheesy Beatles Medley than if they had done Ne-Yo or Taio Cruz.
People forget what X-Factor is - it isnt the cutting edge music scene, its an entertainment show and its main objective is to generate cash - mainly from phone votes. Louis knew EXACTLY what he was doing giving them The Beatles. I do concur however, if they want any longevity in the "real" music business they need to kerb the gimmicky performances and concentrate more on some serious harmonies. |

I'm a Beatles fan, I like JLS and I even think Louis is my favourite judge which puts me in a minority of 1, no doubt - but that didn't work, not at all. They missed the chance of some cracking harmonies - why were they all singing the lead singer's music? But also, it managed to make the Beatles tame - and anyone who has ever heard Lennon belting out 'She Was Just 17' knows the last thing they were was tame. Didn't do JLS justice, and yet for all that, was still a competent performance.

I feel for the guys. They will just be WestLife clones once he signs them. He should take them down the Blue route which would be much more suitable for them.

I agree with the OP. But Louis couldn't have given them Ne-yo or Chris Brown last night as they ain't British and the theme was Best of British. However, I would love to see them do some R&B/Hip-hop stuff.
I can't believe this week is ''Best of British Volume 2'' again. Another boring show I'm not looking forward to. R&B is JLS' comfort zone and there ain't many good R&B British singers that JLS can emulate. Even singing a Take That song is not what they would normally do if they had a choice. I am getting tired of these pathetic 'themes' now. It's really putting me off the show gradually. I would love them to get to the final though, and may be win it against all odds. I don't listen to the Beatles either. |

They could have covered a song by a late 90s- early 00s British boyband like Five of Blue, or if they wanted to go back earlier in time, they could have done a song like "Tribute" by the Pasadenas (who were a British group).
They could also have done a Queen song that has lots of harmonies, preferably not Bohemian Rhapsody but one like Save Me or You're My Best Friend. Not sure though they want to be going down that path. They are not G4, after all. |

Have any of the themes suited these types of songs? No So theyd be slated for doing a song that didnt suit the theme!
Its like Ruth...... if they ever get in the sing off theyll show how good they are with songs such as Neyo, Taio Cruz and Chris Brown. Next week is also a week they can show off their talent if they dont let Louis guide them too much! Theres loads of Take that songs they could sing brilliantly and I think people will see them as a real threat again!

Hm, I understand why Louis picked Beatles for them, but they're so young!
It was their chance to do their fav British song and impress, as well as show everyone what they would release if they'd get a record deal. |

I thought JLS were totally boring this week - not their thought probably. Louis has lost the plot, but he lost it a long time ago.
I'm surprised they weren't in the bottom two. |

They're just not very good vocally. It's a shame. Quote:

He did the same with Eton Road, they did well up to week 3, week 4 - Best of Britsh and were given With Love from Me to You and a daft dance routine. Poor comments from judges and the rot set in and week 6 they were gone.
I actually think JLS will last longer..I hope they make the Final, but Louis is really cluless imho. |

Yep, Louis is guilty of giving JLS the wrong songs, but so do the other judges with their contestents. The judges have either lost all sense of what people want to hear or they are just testing the contestents to their limits
What's great about JLS is that what ever is put to them, they pull it off fantastically well. ![]() I love JLS and I hope they will go far despite any more unsuitable songs Louis may put their way in the future. Last edited by Funky Aztec : 16-11-2008 at 18:35. Reason: typo |

In this series, I am still shocked by the fact that Liam and Mali were not chosen for the final 12. Out of the remaining seven acts, most are mediocre, and Eoghan is rubbish. The only act that I think is particularly good is JLS, but unfortunately I can't vote for them because I hate Louis so much.

They should have picked something similair to what they want to release. I don't think Beatles music is what they want to do now. |
