This is what I don't get either, why should it offend anyone?

I know it does, but why?

I don't mind at all James telling me that he thinks I should vote for the dancing - tis his opinion, he's entitled to have it and to voice it. I'm not going to get on my high horse and vote for someone because he said it.

I'm perplexed by how reactionary some people seem to be.

Then you should be ashamed why vote for a loser jealous of there ability

hang your head in shame

From what I've seen this year, we'd have a darned sight better show without the phone votes, too. I pay my license fee, why should I have to put up with the questionable choices of people with more money than taste?”

Do you think if he refused to do it there wouldn't be pros lining up to take his place? JJ is not bigger than SCD.

I'd be happy with no phone vote but what would we than be left with? Trust judges and see the likes of their favourite win every year and no suspense? Or shall we bring back the clapometer? That's the problem - whatever system is used it won't be perfect.

Of course its his place

Do you honestly think this show will attract new professional dancers if the worst dancer goes through week after week

I don't think so

I think it was fair enough for him to comment really. It doesn't affect him anymore and I'm sure all the pros would feel the same way if they'd been voted off tonight. To be honest, I was more annoyed with Brucie's opinions - I though the host is supposed to be unbiased! It's not really his place to comment on who should or shouldn't be leaving.

Yeah I agree. But then when the judges expressed their views on ITT, there seemed to be a section of public who were under the impression that the judges wanted to take their vote away, when in fact the judges had acknowledged that the public had a right to vote, but were just saying they wished they would vote for the better dancer. It didn't help that John's arguments also made it sound as if the judges were trying to change the rules. John showed his political astuteness there in spinning the story in a certain way.

Of course it will. We have had a lot of new pros join since Chris got to the final. And then more after Julian (strangely James and Ola joined after that - so they know the score). Kenny and Kate lasted far too long last year and we had three new pros this year.

It's called ££££££££££££££££££. £££££ for the show. ££££££££ for heightened demand on personal performances. £££££££ per hour for dance training the rest of the year.

John won't win as, by then, the 'good dancer' vote will be down to two to choose from and the 'sympathy vote' statistically worth a lot less. Also lots of people vote in a final not before (like me) and vote for dancing.

Whats the point trying if the naughy boy anti-judge vote and the vote for another OAP vote decide who stays? They might as well all come on and tell jokes or lie down.

If he had any brain at all he would realise that saying what he said will only have the opposite effect on those who want to keep John in.

Is this supposed to refer to John? If so -
a) What evidence have you that he's "jealous of their ability"? and
b) He's still in the competition. How is he a loser?

I sympathise with James' sentiments but as someone has already said, I think he could have picked a better time and place.

James it just a sore loser, and if he wanted to direct anything it should have been at the judges who put him out after all they preferred Lisa and Brendan.

Last year James wasn't complaining when Ola and Kenny got voted in and better dancers went out, and if Strictly was a dance competition we wouldn't have celebs on it.

Of course it will! Strictly gives dancers the chance to become household names and thus they can increase their tution fees, the price for their personal appearances and go on to making a name for themselves in the public eye.

Hasn't stopped a whole new swathe signing up even after Chris Parker, Julian Clary, Fiona Philips, Peter Schmiecal, Kate Garraway ...

I would imagine an increased public profile with opportunities for prime time Saturday tele, fitness DVD's, after dinner speaking and increased interest for their lessons would be quite an incentive.

Exactly what I was going to say. I wonder what he'd have thought if one of the pros had had a rant about his missus and her partner staying in while better dancers were eliminated.

James Jordan is part of the paid staff on the programme. It is not his palce to comment on how the public vote.

As I have said in another thread, perhaps he should look at why people didn't vote for him and his partner, rather than bemoaning the fact that they voted for someone else.

Just out of interest, how many people on here DID vote for him & Cherie this week?

I think we all know how competitive James is and how much he desperately wanted to win this year. I think his comments just made him look like a sore loser. It's a shame really as I liked Cherie and it's taken the focus off her and on to James/John.

If James is so dedicated to pure dancing judged only by his peers, why does he not compete in the Blackpool Festival of Dance? Is it because he cannot win there either?

But why would you do that? Do you seriously think his a good dancer?

James didn't say anything that most people weren’t thinking anyway and I for one totally agree with him.

Actually, each individual isn't keeping John in. How can they? They could be voting just because he's their favourite celeb (that's not difficult or stupid, given the line up). I suppose a collective group could be called stupid if they vote tactically, and their decision about who to vote for was based on John's dancing, rather than his personality. Then, of course there would need to be some knowledge of what other people would be voting so they could work out the number of votes they would need in order to keep John in.

It didn't make him look like a sore loser to me. He spoke the truth.

Some people have blown this way out of proportion here. He didn't say it in a nasty spiteful way so way all the flack

I could not get to the TV. The parting speech is normally the prerogative of the celeb. How did Cherie look? Did this distinguished actress manage to say anything?

Yes, only that she had a fabulous time and has enjoyed every moment etc. James only said that people should remember it’s a DANCE competition afterwards. He said that there was a lot more to come from Cherie.
I really don't know what all the fuss is about

No I mean the voters are jealous of the decent dancers ability

This country loves a loser and yes in the sense of dancing ability John is the loser
