Because it's not up to him to preach about who everyone should be voting for. There wasn't really any need for it because he just repeated what the judges have said for the past 4 or 5 weeks. They're like stuck records.

And also, there is someone who is working hard to try and dance and fair enough he gets stick off all of the judges, and I doubt he cares, but you don't really expect to be criticised by a professional and told you shouldn't be there and the public are wrong to vote you in. I mean have a little respect for the amount of work John is actually putting in.

And I'm a James fan. And I've never voted for John. I just don't like what he said, should have taken a leaf out of Cheries book, always gracious even in defeat.

If as all the John supporters keep reminding us, this is a free country and people can vote for whom they like, I would have throught that people can also say what they like (as is often pointed out on here)

Mark Foster has already came out and said he thinks the public should vote for the dancing.

John has been asked for his opinion on what is going on - why can't James have an opinion and state it? In his place I wouldn't have kept my trap shut either

Well said.

I like(d) James, but this isn't the first time he's thrown his dummy out of the pram. Part of being a professional is accepting defeat gracefully.

He'd be crucified as a bad loser by people here and elsewhere. It's how the Brit culture works, we love an underdog and anyone who dares put the dog further under will be vilified.

Good post! I wonder what he will say tonight...

The public get a vote. For which they pay.
They don't get a say unless the BBC catch you out and about and then edit you to fit their slant on things.

The judges do get a say. As if we didn't know!

The dancers are paid to dance. The better-behaved dancers (including Anton, Lilia and Darren) put up and shut up.

Their chance to do the talking is on the floor.
If they don't WOW us or make us think "Aaah" or whatever floats our boats then too bl00dy bad. Do the decent thing, take your medicine graciously and depart.

Why does everybody carp on about James being a bad loser?

He'd already lost and so asking people to vote for the dancing was, in his and Cherie's case, meaningless as the damage had already been done.

He was asking (not telling) people to consider this for future weeks as Lisa, Rachel, Jodie and Christine are obviously all vulnerable to Juggernaut John - as are Austin and Tom (although perhaps to a lesser extent as I think they have more loyal fan bases).

Why shouldn't he have an opinion on this? He's only saying what everyone who voted for all the other contestants except John will be thinking ...

Thank you, John's stated his case many times, why on earth, especially in the heat and disappointment of going out of a competition, can't James say what he wants. 'It's not his place', so he's not allowed an opinion, not allowed to feel agreived at loosing out to a much poorer dancer and not allowed to say so.

Whilst I'd still defend anyone's rights to vote for John for whatever reason they choose, I'll also defend James's right to have a view on the matter that he should be allowed to express.
