Is it an iPod touch..it has slightly more chance of survival given the hard drive is solid state.
Let it dry out completely...and pray ! |

That's one way to clean the hard disk.
Seriously, dry it out thoroughly by placing it in the airing cupboard for a few days and it might work. Fingers crossed. |

If after drying it out and it doesn't work, take it back to where you brought it, say it has stopped working and request a replacement.

![]() An iPod has a small tab inside it, where the headphone jack is, that will change colour to pink when it has been exposed to liquid. It's so that the Apple folk can tell if an iPod is faulty due to water damage. As others have said, the best thing to do is leave it to completely dry out for a while. I've also read lots of stories of people submerging iPods into a bucket/bowl/bag of uncooked rice to help draw out all the moisture. There's a lot of pages about people accidentally dropping their iPods into water and some suggestions for removing the moisture here (I searched iPod, rice, moisture but plenty of other ways of drying out iPods are discussed on the linked pages): Google results page It's happened to loads of people and plenty of iPods have come out all safe and sound I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it gets sorted. |

It lives!
Well, after a week in the airing cupboard in a bowl of rice the ipod lives!
Only problem is the backlight doesn't work and the screen is slightly watermarked, but it works!

I was just about to say that the only thing that is likely to be affected is the screen if it is anything like most mobile phones.

my ipod shuffle survived this fate last year.
One of problems with it being so small is that you can easily misplace it..... |

When this happened to my phone i just let it dry out for a few days in the airing cupboard and it was fine. Most people just assume it's broken and replace it!
If you get it from Argos you usually get a replacement if you took it back - they are very understanding I've found. Dunno about anywhere else though. |
