Getting Panasonic TX28DT30C1 soon... your opinion.
Spent the last 9 months saving up for a nice 28" widescreen tv and I've always been drawn to that Panasonic TX28DT30C1, which saw in places like Comet and etc.
Anyone have any good experience with this model. Help me to choose wisely. |

Got one last March having placed the order pre-Christmas. Well worth the wait. Excellent picture (100hz), Freeview, 4 AV inputs (1 SVHS Scart, 1 RGB Scart, 1 SVHS/RGB Scart & 1 SVHS on the front). Sound is very good but nothing special - better to use the outputs at the back to your hi-fi.
My sister was so impressed she got one too and it only took 3 days (from unbeatable http://www.unbeatable.co.uk/CatalogueItem_2033.html ). As with any Freeview set, allow some funds for a possible aerial upgrade. If you have any specific questions just ask but you may find this recent thread helpful: http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/board/t/91701/ds.html |

Thanks for your response.
I just visited a Panasonic dealer today and they were telling me that model that I like had been discontinued. Maybe I should move on to a newer model?... |

Surprised they said that. Its on the Panasonic website (as TX28DT30) and its less than a year old.
Any newer model (if it exists) will only have minor changes - probably cosmetic. Don't let it put you off. |

Been looking (very closely) at one of these sets myself, and was nearly reaching for the plastic when I spotted something weird:
It was tuned to channel 5, and there was some quiz show on (Brainstorm, or something like that). The show has some animated onscreen graphics that slide up from the bottom. Every single time these graphics slid onto the screen (or back down again), the top of the picture flickered quite alarmingly. I checked some other Panasonic models, (both analogue and digital) and they all do it, though some to a lesser degree than others. Checked some tellies from other manufacturers and they were rock-solid. I've been able to reproduce this in three different shops, so it's nothing peculiar to the environment (unless it just doesn't like being in close proximity to so many other sets) It's a great shame, because I really like this telly, and was about to buy it before I saw this happen. The only other thing I can think of that could be causing this is if the AI is trying to overcompensate, but I thought I'd turned it off. Has anybody else noticed this? Does anybody know for sure what it is, and if it'll do it if I take one home? |
