Just seen Arlene Whatshername on Breakfast telly, moaning about people voting for John Sergeant.....

Here's something they (the judges) might like to take on board....

'Come Dancing' used to be on the telly years ago.

It was on in the dead of night (Terry Wogan hosted it)

No one watched it.

It was a 'serious dance competition'

STRICTLY COME DANCING has revitalised this 'art' & brought it to millions more people as 'entertainment' & part of this entertainment is viewers getting to see who THEY want to see every week.

The judges knew this when they signed their fat contracts

The judges should feel free to go back to judging/teaching serious dance classes/competitions, but forget about their whacking great big PRIME TIME BBC SALARIES that they are happy to take for being little more than panto villains....

Well said.

As discussed in other threads, I simply ADORE seeing the stupid judges missing the point EVERY week - SCD is ENTERTAINMENT - not a serious dancing contest.

They are so thick they miss the point every week and it's hilarious.

maybe to you but it isn't for everyone

So it's Terry Wogan's fault!

Interesting though, how you choose to miss out something else Arlene said. Something quite important.

That they are employed to judge the dancing they see at that moment in time and that particular job description is on the contract they signed.

I think the judges should stop saying wtte that the others are working sooooooooo hard....because so is John he is just a bit rubbish but he is still working hard.

Yes, they are & they do that.
But they ARE NOT employed to get all uppity about the public voting to keep someone on the show that they want off it....
If they wanted cart-blanche over who stays & who goes, they should have stuck with the 'Come Dancing' format & settle dfor eighty quid a week like their seventies counterparts.....
The public LIKE having a say in this, the ratings prove that. The judges want to produce 'high art' well........that comes at a price boys & girls & the 'price' would be your fat pay cheques !!!!

Well, why don't they? Arlene's cries of 'I want more/raw sex' or 'the hips are back' can hardly be described as 'judging'.
And the same goes for Len's mutterings of 'I don't know why you're still here'.

At least Len tries harder with his talk of fnangles and contretemps.

It is all done to up the viewing figures and it is working.

John will not win, Austin will. Next year when the terrible one is not voted out in week one everybody will be saying "Oh X is going to be this year's John Sergeant, I'm never watching it ever again." But they will.

the judges should just put their thinking caps on and get John in the bottom two

give all the couples but John the same mark so they tie and will force John into bottom two simple

Then the judges could hardly say the scores were based on dancing ability, could they?
Unless the remaining competitors DID dance to an equally high standard. Not impossible but highly unlikely.

Why can't people accept that we have different tastes in life?
I hate bananas but I don't want them banned from the fruit counter at Tesco.

Actually THEY ARE employed to get uppity about the public voting. That's their role! Don't be under any illusion that what they say on the show and in interviews elsewhere hasn't been sanctioned by the BBC. I believe they are encouraged to complain in this manner because it generates a debate and public interest in the show- keeping ratings up, which is all the BBC are interested in.

I can't believe how much we have had to be angry over this year!

What with the Jonathan Ross, Laura from X Factor and now John Sargeant staying on SCD.

God only knows what the next national outrage will be!?!

Perhaps if they did their job competently and fairly - they might win the respect of the public who then would vote accordingly... but the sheer incompetence, inconsistency and small mindedness displayed by the judges mean that the public does not respect their opinion.... and people like John stayas a result.

Personally i can take or leave john but i love the fact that he stays in because it shows that the public has no respect for the judges

Nah - I vote the bananas get it.

I mean... how dare they??? Don't they know that some people don't like them??? If they had any self-respect or dignity then they would be too ashamed to show up on the shelves week after week - and if people want to spend their own money buying bananas... well... let's villify and ridicule them, too!

Stop buying bananas you fools!!!!!

I never even looked at John that closely until the furore.
But now I have.

And I find I really like him and Kristina. Thanks, everyone.

Yay. Ban the bananas. I hate them. They shouldn't be allowed. Not ever, never. Spoiling my fruit shopping. I don't want to see bananas. They're too starchy to be REAL fruit.

Satsumas top my leaderboard.

The programme should be like X factor.
No judges vote only public and then the judges vote off one out of the bottom 2 from public vote only.
John would still be in that way as well.

If the public had a vote on the judges Craig and Arlene would have gone weeks ago.

Those pesky bananas are making a mockery of the whole supermarket experience as far as I'm concerned - they're not even trying to be proper fruit, are they? Where will it all end????
ESPIONdansant
17-11-2008
Bananas just get a sympathy vote.
People who know about real fruit - like with lots of Vitamin C and everything - wouldn't put bananas with pears. Come ON!!!

Why this pathetic attachment to bananas? Don't people know ANYTHING?

Vote John in/ out/ shakeitallabout...

So was it celebs who were competing in "Come Dancing"?

(Just taking a mo-ette off-topic... what if the Hokey Cokey really is what it's all about.....?)

Down with bananas! Up with satsumas! Rhubarb is a vegetable - but I don't care!!!! (It makes a lovely crumble with custard...)
ESPIONdansant
17-11-2008
Rhubarb is a VEGETABLE?

How very DARE YOU???

Have you ever tried tomato crumble? (They call it 'gratin', but they're not fooling me....)

All this villification is disgusting. The Bananas are trying their hardest to be a decent fruit and they should be praised for that. Bananas are so soft and squishy and they really do appeal to people of all ages (even the old dears with no teeth who find apples and pears are just too hard). So stop the anti-banana campaign.

VOTE FOR BANANA to be the um top banana
