Rachel - Foxtrot

I agree with you about Lisa- she was very lost in places and I thought Brian was being dilpomatic really.

Mind you it was early training footage and maybe the quickstep is not the best dance for her to have post dance off??

We'll see come Friday. I am still concerned for Jodie and hope they show some of her training on ITT tomorrow.

I think Jodie has the support to escape the bottom 2 spots, Lisa however showed last week she dosen't.

I've always thought Lisa's problem is not Latin dances, but fast dances.

Another dance off looks likely and this one she's unlikely to survive.

I think most of them looked poor tonight. Tom's frame was poor, Christine seemed to be being dragged round by Matt, Lisa's footwork was appalling, Rachel looked she's back to being bland, Austin's hips weren't really moving and of course, we didn't see Jodie but I imagine this one's going to be a big hill for her.

It is early in the week though!

Very true.
No one was exactly sparkling and still early in the week.

A lisa v rachel dance off for me though..and lisa goes.

Not odd at all. This time last year when we were down to 7 contestants, Kelly and John ended up in the dance off with the same dance, the samba. And this time 2 years ago (final 7) Emma and Carol both did the chacha and Louisa and Claire did the tango.

I thought Rachel's footage looked the most promising and I can see her on top of the leaderboard again, which means she is unlikely to be in the dance off. Lisa could be there again but who with? Christine is vulnerable as she is doing the same dance as Austin and as Jodie has a potentially bad dance (which means she could get the sympathy vote, especially in the absence of John)

I think the boys are too popular to trouble the dance off, unless they're low on the leaderboard. So it could be Jodie and Christine in the judges' bottom 2. I'm sure Christine will do a good chacha but there are no bad dancers left to occupy the bottom 2, and this is the point where the judges start overmarking their favourites to protect them from elimination.

I don't think the judges votes will mean anything now

Jodie and Christine seem to have the most support judging by there continued mid table/ lower table postioning and always getting through (barring week 1 for Jodie).

I think Austin also has alot of support as well; mainly because he is very good (does nothing for me though)

I still think that Lisa, Rachel or Tom will be in the dance off; depending on who comes out on top out of the three.

Rachel's dane (foxtrot) will lack the WOW factor to vote it and Lisa could struggle with the fastness/ hardness of the quickstep which could put them in danger.

Jodie will probably get torn apart for her Jive and will get the sympathy vote and therefore Lisa wont be able to rely on that if she too is picked on.

Still think Rachel vs Lisa in the dance off

I'd go along with Austin and Tom being the safest of the six - both good dancers and both appear reasonably popular.

Rachel has the Foxtrot - like the Rumba, it is a slow dance requiring good footwork, I think. It should, therefore, suit her. If Vincent has picked the right song/music again, I think she'll score enough to merit the advantage in any dance-off against one of the other girls. Possibly, even avoid the dreaded bottom two altogether.

My bet is for either Lisa, Jodie or Christine to say their goodbyes on Saturday.

I wouldn't like to call who would be in the bottom two, although I agree that the men look safest.

Some interesting dances this week. I'm waiting to see if Christine continues to improve. Her cha cha looked good on ITT. And obviously Jodie's dance will be a signficant one for her. I haven't really been much interested in Tom so far but I warmed to him on ITT today and so am looking forward to seeing his Tango. And I always look forward to seeing Austin dance!

Not sure about Rachel or Lisa. Their dances could go either way depending on choreography and music I think (i.e. I think that a lot is in the hands of the pros).

If Lisa and Rachel are tied in first place with 6 points each, only one of them can be in the dance off, and neither of them will be going home. I think the judges' rankings are far more important now there are only 6 couples left.

That's an assumption that isn't backed by any evidence - all we know is that in certain weeks they must have had more votes than the likes of Cherie, Heather, Mark and Andrew. I won't assume Rachel is unpopular because of one drop into the bottom 2.

I agree he has a lot of support, but unlike Christine and Jodie he also has the all important judges' support which = more aggregate points.

One of them may be... but not two.

Which won't matter a jot if they top the leaderboard. Remember the judges often award marks according to who dances and what happened the previous week. Len more or less admitted to doing the latter in his autobiography.

I don't think Lisa is going to be picked on the week after she was saved by the judges - I may be wrong but I reckon she'll get very good marks unless she makes a real hash of her QS.

“Still think Rachel vs Lisa in the dance off”

I agree Lisa looks the most vulnerable, but I think one of Jodie and Christine will be joining her. The only other combination I can think of is Lisa and Tom, but I think Tom has sufficient public support and won't be low down on the leaderboard.

That's my prediction too. I can't see Austin, Tom or Rachel leaving as even if they find themselves in the bottom 2, they will be there with one of the other 3.

For me it is too close to call who will be in the dance off.

I liked the way Lilia said tonight she hated commenting on the training clips because they were always recorded at the very start of training. I suppose it gives us a nice surprise when someone pulls it out of the bag.

The training's also very misleading for lots of different reasons. Austin never really goes full pelt in training because of his injuries, Lisa and Tom always tend to look horrendous in training and then seem to varying degrees to pull it out of the bag.

I think Rachel could be in trouble again this week, much as I like her, the foxtrot is quite an uninspiring dance to follow the rhumba, she's going to have difficulty selling it, I think, which has been her trouble all along.

I don't know it's so hard with so few left. The only one, funnily enough, that I think could be safe is Jodie because I think there's a fair likelihood she'll be in the bottom 2 after the jive and I think she'll get saved by the public.

why is are two couples being allowed todo the same dance? I thought all of them had faults tonight

I don't think they're being allowed to do the same dance. I don't know if they're assigned the dance, or they pick it themselves and I don't think anyone has categorically proved it either way, but it has happened in previous years I believe.

I thought they avoided doing the same dance if possible

Tom, in particular, seems to do this. I've wondered more than once if it was a tactic to try and eliminate preconceptions among the judges...

I think the only one who hasnt had his popularity tested is Tom. Austin was fairly low down on Rumba week and went through Tom has never been out of the top 3 but 3 out of 6 is mid board and therefore vulnerable. I would like to see one of the boys in the dance off just to mix it up........they wouldnt be voted off obviously they are the judges pets.

I agree that they certainly wouldn't be voted off now unless there was an obvious disparity between their dance and that of their dance off rival. It might be interesting to see one of the boys in the dance off as it could stir the competition right up again. Imagine Tom/Austin from a high scoring third up against Lisa/Rachel from second/fourth and Christine and Jodie getting through ahead of both. Particularly Jodie, as she's more likely to come a cropper this week. Would Jodie become the new John Sergeant?
