Proof that John is gaining success effortlessly.

I don't think he has to try harder - he's doing just fine from where I'm looking!

I don't think that is putting her foot in it, it's not like she said that John shouldn't be there.

Arlene is just making matters worse by going on about John reading the paper. He had a couple of lifts in the routine last week which he carried off pretty well.

Jeremy Vine on Radio 2 had people phoning in who were both pro and anti John. Arlene was on that too.

She's right. It's perfectly clear he isn't bothering to try to improve. More a case of her hitting the nail on the head than putting her foot in it.

If people want to annoy the judges they could at least have voted for one of the lesser talented contestants that worked hard rather than someone who thinks it's beneath him to try to improve and grows more and more smug with every passing week.

BBC must be making a mint on this through PR, wonder if the Judges get a bonus if they can get more votes in for John..........lol

yep, and the more they moan.......the more votes he gets....... its not hard to work out.

There has to be another motive behind this.....the judges cant be that stupid....or can then ????

He's trying as hard as everybody else and showing signs of improvement.

If Strictly expected a portly 60+ fella with zero prior dancing experience to make the same strides and achieve the technical proficiency achieved by some of the other celebrities then they should not have invited him on the show in the first place.

But since they did request his presence, then they should show him the respect he deserves and cut him some slack, instead of encouraging the judges, the presenters and the pros to campaign against him.

Everyone who participates knows fully well that the celebrities go when the public have tired of them.

So why they kick up a fuss when the voting doesn't go their way is beyond me.

If the judges or James Jordan don't like the rules, then they are free to request their p45. No one is holding a gun to their heads and forcing them to stay.

Arlene and the rest need new script writers.

Same old moan year in year out.

Not from where I'm sitting he isn't.

Defend his right to still be in based on the format of the show or the voting system or his entertainment value but please don't try and tell me his dancing is improving. That just makes you look silly.

I wonder how many of the people who are saying that John is making no effort to improve have ever learnt Ballroom or Latin. To get to the standard many of the celebrities, including John (and allowing for his age and fitness level), have attained, is no mean feat. Incidentally, I'm not voting for John and I don't believe all the people who are just want to annoy the judges.

When will they learn?

The public have never and never will vote to appease the judges. John wont go until the bow down to him with consecutive 9s.

But I don't like some of the others, so why should I be expected to waste my money voting for them?
On second thoughts - make that I don't like the majority of the others (even the ones the judges rave over), so why should I be expected to waste my money voting for them?

I totally agree with all your points. I have never voted for John although I do like him and Christina. I am however, finding all this alienation of J & C quite upsetting. If I were them I wouldnt stay where I wasnt wanted and I'd leave, but then that would be unfair on the viewers who have supported them.

I wish the judges would remember that the celebs, pros, presenters and judges are being paid to do this. Its not a dancing competition in the true sense. They are all being paid to take part in an entertainment show. The viewing public on the other hand, pay to vote!

I was voting for Tom and Camilla but have been puzzled as to why there is no contribution to charity from the votes these days so I stopped voting.

I've always felt there should be a much more level playing field. (Maybe they should hold heats beforehand with only the judges deciding who competes in the live shows which would mean that the best would be in the live shows - young or old). The cynic in me suspects that the BBC welcomes all the controversy though and this is why they have all the different dance capability levels.

If the judges want the viewing public to vote in the same way as they do, then whats the point of the public vote other than to make money. If they did away with the public vote then they could just sit back and watch the ratings drop I think.

All this is really spoiling SCD for me this year.

WOW

John has discovered the ultimate painless diet - how to lose two stone by reading the paper.

I am sure John would have preferred to keep this secret until his mega product launch, but Arlene has let the cat out of the bag now.
