what are your must haves on your big christmas shop? (if you do one) how much do you usually spend and where do you normally shop?

i usually go to morrisons but think i am going to go to asda this year and then get some special bits from marks and spencers. my main must have is mint baileys, it's isn't christmas without it. i also buy lots of picky bits and party food. there is only me and my OH that live here so we spend about £100, that lasts us just over the christmas week (say 22nd dec-1st jan) we always get a takeaway on new years day.

Bird's Strawberry Trifle, the one you make up youself. For some reason it's become a Christmas thing in our house!

Don't think anything else is a 'must have', other than the usual; spuds, gravy, turkey, etc.

Last year we spent £60 I think. On a normal weeks' shopping we spend about £40 (for 3 of us) so it wasn't too bad.

Nibbles! ...nuts, crisps, mini cheddar's and other pickie bits. We have a lazy susan with individual compartments that we fill with snackie type food. Everyone in our family would much prefer savory over sweet nibbles so we make sure we get a lot in.

As long as I have plenty of olive oil, black peppercorns and sea salt i'll be fine. I don't really buy in anything special.

Ritz Crackers
Salted Nuts
Smoked Salmon
Pickled Onions
Branstons Pickle
Baileys

I've not been at home for Christmas for years, and this'll be my first one. So never had the need to get the shopping in! I won't get a load of stuff in, so will just pick up stuff as I go along.
I did get some Ritz the other day, but they've already been demolished. Looks like I'll be buying in a few more boxes now.

My Mum goes mental with the Christmas shop and we have tons of everything. She'll have Quality Stresst, Roses, Celebrations, Heroes, tons of Pringles, assorted nuts, multi packs of crisps, cakes, sweets, selections of biscuits, selections of cheeses, biscuits to go with them, selection of pickles - the list is endless - and this is before booze!!! I think my folks save all thier reward points over the year and go insane come Xmas time

We have a big family and lots of visitors but there is always too much food

This year is my first year living with my BF and although we'll be spending the actual day with our respective parents we'll still get some bits in!!! My must have is original Bailey's - that simply is Christmas to me

We'll get in various picky foods, probably a selection from M&S and maybe I'll do us our very own Christmas dinner at some point? I am working between Christmas and NY so can always pick up supplies!!

We'll make sure we have a supply of beer and wine too!!

Chestnuts and more chestnuts - to go with braised cabbage, in xmas stuffing and just for plain roasting - I love them!

They're actually really nice together. Cut the lid off the mince pie, pop in a little bit of stilton, put the lid back on, and you have the perfect blend of sweet and savoury!

I really miss cheesy Ritz, I used to eat boxes of em when I was a kiddie. I've only seen the cheese sandwich ones and they're just not the same.
