I am looking to try and see if a primer is really worth it as I have heard that they are really good for wearing under make up.

Can anybody recommend a good one please?

Thanks.

I use Nars and Smashbox.

And yes they do work - they give an incredible flawless finish and makeup lasts all day/evening.

I've tried the Benefit one and I would highly recommend it.

There is one by YSL which is a pale pinky colour - they don't call it a primer, but that is what it is - I think they call it a base.

It is about twenty quid but well worth it - I have put it on when I have had a hangover or been exhausted at work, and it makes me completely glow! - foundation over the top of it lasts much better as well.

Philosphy's The Supernatural Poreless Flawless is absolutely excellent. You don't need to use as much foundation after using this product.

I bought a high street one - Revlon, but tbh, it is no more than a small and expensive small tube of moisturiser!

Am I missing something?

Yes! A good primer should make your makeup go on like silk and leave the finish looking flawless. When I use a primer (which is not every day) there are not shiny patches or uneven tones - a good primer should give an almost airbrushed finish. You should also always use a brush to get a really even finish.

Hiya

Thanks for the reply.

I have paid more attention to it this week and when I have done it properly I have really noticed a difference.

I used it one day then didn't the next, and I could really tell the difference. Haven't used a brush with it yet, but will certainly give that a go too!

Thanks to everybody else for your replies, I think I will keep trying a few until I find the perfect one!

Cheers and Merry Christmas!

The Benfit she-lac primer is great for eye make-up. You coat it over the top of even really dramatic eyes and it holds everything in place all night, no creasing!

I usually apply it with my fingers and I put it all over my face.

I tend to put a bit more on places where my make up doesn't last (e.g under my eyes, my nose and my forehead).

This video should help. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=eGwf9B43G1c

I really love Helen E when I first bought it at Debenhams recently.

It is great for olive and darker skin tones
