Our Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Sid, tragically had his life cut short this evening; after he escaped through the front door as I was leaving the house, he was hit by a car before I could catch him and died on the way to the vet.

I was blaming myself for a while but it could've happened with any of us. We haven't blamed the driver of the car which hit him either as she couldn't have seen him coming until the last minute, and she was upset enough already. A passer-by gave me a lift to the vet but once we got in the car I more or less knew he was dead, but of course I was still hopeful. The vets took him in as soon as we got there but they too thought it was too late, and confirmed this by checking his heart. I broke down at this point, I didn't know how to react after.

I got a lift home from the lady who took me to the vet and she stayed with me until my gran popped over as she could see that I was upset. Unfortunately I didn't get her name or number so I can't show her how much I appreciate her kindness, even if I did already give her plenty of thanks earlier.

I just wanted to get this off my chest and leave a little memorial for my dog. He was so young but in a way I'm glad he died quickly, at least he didn't suffer. RIP Sid, you will be missed dearly.
