I want to run an extension for a sky box in my bedroom , in the loft is a small white box , when i unscrewed the cover there were the click in connecters, seen in standard bt boxes, but by each connecter were letters, instead of numbers, which letters match the numbers on a extension box? thanks in advance

A is 5, B is 2. is this box on your side of our nte5? if its on the main feed coming(our side) in then doing an ext'n from that can cause all sorts of problems.

if you make the connection before the NTE5, it becomes what we call star wiring and can cause disruption to adsl service. the other point is that up until the NTE5 is our responsibility and by making a connection before it breaks the T&C's with your service provider and can affect the line when you have a fault and need to run the tests. The main one though is, for any reason we have to visit we will disconnect it as illegal wiring and you would get charged.

this is all ofcourse assuming that it is before the NTE5. do you know where your main line is? i.e if fed from a pole follow the cable and if it goes into the loft then chances are that box is ours. if it goes somewhere else to a NTE5 then feeds into the loft to feed the other ext'ns then you can do whatever you like to it.

another option, if it is our cabling in the loft you could always install an NTE5 at the joint in the loft and run your ext'n from there. however this also breaks the T&C's though if the job is done properly we would be non the wiser.

I dont think its connected properly then, the main cable in is not connected to the screw in A and B connecters its connected to the "click in" connecters.
