You're meant to be a professional dance judge, but you just can't keep your nasty, personal comments to yourself off the dance floor.

If you want to be a professional judge, start acting like one. OK, you are asked for your opinions on ITT, but spare us the media bile 247.

You accuse John of "undermining" the show but I reckon you are doing that, not him.

You seem to target one professional every series and there's just no let up. But if a contestant is male and fit and has a nice bottom, then you go overboard and make a total fool of yourself.

What message is that giving to the thousands of kids that watch the show? If you aren't attractive or talented or young adults will attack you on a personal level at every opportunity?

If this carries on the show will find it very hard to attract anyone but very young, very fit actors and sports people in the future. And how boring will that be?

Erm it's just a silly TV show....and Arlene's the 'queen of mean'....a pantomime villain to boo and hiss at....stop taking it so ridiculously seriously.

Remember this.
A frown and a scowl is SO unattractive and ageing.
Try to look for the GOOD, Arlene!

Oh, and did anybody tell HER it was just a TV programme?

I like Arlene, I value her opinions. She is one of the best judges for me.

I value her opinions on the dancing but she can't just keep to the dancing can she?

Endemoniada - but the people she attacks are real people with real feelings (or don't celebrities count?)

Its a good point about how she swoons over some butts and biceps - a male judge would not get away with drooling over a fem dancer in such an open fashion.

Maybe if John had such physical attributes she would be kinder to him.

Maybe not but I still like her and give me her over Len anyday.

The celebs are very well paid both in terms of cash and publicity...in addition to which they are being taught to dance by a top professional.

In return they potentially have to endure the terrible hardship of a few pantomime insults. Maybe feelings are hurt on occasions....but that can happen in scripted drama when the lines get blurred. I suspect they manage somehow to get over it in time and pull themselves together.

Nobody forced them to sign up. After 6 series they know how the show works...and if they don't it's their fault or the fault of their agent.

Perhaps someone of your delicate sensibilities should stick to 'The Waltons' or 'Little House On The Prairie'?

Arlene has taken it to another level entirely.

Calling John lazy was bad enough but her insults directed at Kristina were absolutely appalling.

Yes there's panto element to the judging but she overstepped the mark this week with her attacks.

It's because of Arlene & Co that John Sergeant is enjoying more publicity than he could ever have dreamt of !

I'm quite sure he won't be complaining about the offers of work no doubt flooding in. Him and his bank balance are going to be fine.

The judges comments are just pantomime but they should just be contained within the show itself and to the contestants faces.

Arlene appearing on every show that will have her so she can critisise John is ensuring he gets more and more popular with the public, so it is just making her look more and more silly really.

No thanks; there are more attractive women on the show.

And perhaps you could stick to discussing the issue and not insulting other FMs?

Since when was being sensitive to the feelings of others something to be mocked?

Anyone else got Dexy's Midnight Runners stuck in their head after reading this thread title?

It's supposed to be an 'entertainment show' and John is entertaining! Arlene said he never practises and just reads the paper all the time but how has he lost two stones if he's been sat around all day?

John walked across the floor in the paso and was adjudged as rubbish.

Kenny walked across the floor in the paso --
Arlene: "You were dripping with masculinity."

Arlene has inadvertently rumbled the

Sit Down and Lose Two Stone Diet.

From the BBC news story

Strictly judge Arlene Phillips said: "I'm always sad if a contestant leaves of choice, because you are always expecting to let the public vote them in or out - but John is his own person and he has his own reasons for doing this.

When asked if she felt responsible for his departure, she said: "Not really. If you look back, we've actually been quite nice on this programme."

They have. He wasn't very good. Why should they sugar coat what they say to John? They can't just ignore stuff John does wrong but still mention for other couples.

Yep, you said it. Scripted - which no doubt explains why Lisa was saved on Saturday despite a pretty woeful effort: it's part of the script that she makes the final.

And just because John didn't fit Arlene's pre-prepared (and no doubt highly alliterative) script, she throws her dummy out of the pram, and starts mouthing off across the media making all sorts of ridiculous comments (while pursing her lips and looking like she's chewing a lemon). Yes she is an established choreographer, but when was the last time she actually said something constructive about dancing on the show? I say, sack the horrible bitter woman. (You may disagree, of course).
