Just listening to it now for the first time and it is a disappointing album on first listen.

I am hoping it will be a grower but it is making the new Oasis album sound good at the moment.

I had a listen to the leak tracks this morning and i disagree with you. I think this is The Killers strongest album to date because for me, there is not one track on their that is really weak. There are many songs (Spaceman, Neon Tiger, Losing Touch, Joy Ride) that do stand out above others (as with all albums) but i have listened to all the songs now and i love it. Personally, i would give 'Day & Age' 5 stars. There have been many reviews in the papers/magazines which have given this album 4 & 5 stars so they all feel the same way as i do.

But like you said, it may be a grower on some - like with 'Sam's Town', which i did not like at first but now i listen to it with great fondness.

Can't wait to buy it on Monday.

I ordered it off Amazon about two weeks ago, but heard it in full today, and I love it if I am honest.

'Spaceman' is probably my favourite track so far. Wasn't sure on the opener to start off with, but a second listen and I was there! It's better than 'Sam's Town', which I also liked a lot, even if it got bad reviews from some sections of the music press.

Popjustice didn't give it a very good review, which is worrying me because I usually find myself agreeing with those guys.

I hope they are wrong

'Sam's Town' got some really harsh reviews. When you look back at the album and read some of the reviews now, they seem very harsh & unfair.
'Sam's Town' got a rough ride by critics and at first, i wasn't too keen on the album but 2 years down the line, i love it now!

'Day & Age' has got mainly positive reviews (there will always be a few negative ones) but having listenend to the full tracks, i am giving the band a lot of credit for making such a bold, diverse and risky album and i feel they have pulled it off. Right now, there sound is different to any other band out there and i still find it difficult to place them in a specific music category but i think that's why i love listening to them so much!

I can't understand the negativity with Sams Town, I think it's fantastic.
Only heard Day & Age once and I'm a bit disapointed but it'll probably be a grower.Got to give it a chance

It will be worth it.

I have pre-ordered mine so it will be here on Monday. But i have been listening to the leaked songs for the past few days (i couldn't help myself ) and i can honestly say it is a GREAT album. It's a mixture of both 'Sam's Town' and 'Hot Fuss' and it does take a few listens to really get into but once you do, it's brilliant! For me there is only one weak track ('I Can't Stay') but all other 9 songs range from very good to excellent and any can be released as a single - something which i couldn't have said about some of the songs on 'Sam's Town' and especially 'Hot Fuss'.

My only criticism would be that there should have been more than 10 songs because once the last track finishes ('Goodnight, Travel Well' which is a mind blowing song - almost 7 minutes long), i wanted more.

*edit* - here is the album review from DS - http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/a1...-day--age.html
It's been given 4 out of 5 stars.

I found with the Killers previous albums that I've tended to really love 3-4 tracks on each one, but at least half the tracks just did nothing for me. (Was still worth buying the albums for the tracks I did like, though.)

However with Day and Age I've seen a lot of reviews which have commented on how consistently strong all the tracks are, which is a good sign - have only heard Human so far myself but think its brilliant, so have a good feeling about this album.

Day and Age as a whole, is The Killers most complete and consistent album. It flows really well, from a great opening track in 'Losing Touch' and it ends with an epic, emotional song in 'Goodnight, Travel Well'.

I have spoken to family/friends who have listened to the whole album and so far, all have diffferent favourite songs which goes to show the strength of the album. Something which was missing with Hot Fuss and Sam's Town where nearly everyone had similar favourite and least favourite tracks.

I can't wait to play the album in my car whilst i am driving. It will be a perfect album for when you are driving.

Well I for one am very disappointed. There's only about three or four corkers on there. Despite the name, there's very little killer and an awful lot of filler. In fact, towards the end it just became noise not music. Where's the hooks and great melodies of Hot Fuzz and Sam's Town?

I'll definitely give it a few more listens before I discard it for all eternity but it's not looking good.

At first i only liked Human off the album, im now liking Spaceman too.

However any signs of going back to the Hot Fuzz days are very much gone. When they said they were going to return back to that stuff, they lied!

Sounds to me like Hot Fuzz wasnt the sound they ever desired to make.

Probably!

I think it's the stand out track on the album, but I like most of the songs.

I'm just listening to the album first time round now - Spaceman is an excellent tune, I think it could do very well for the band if they release it as a single.

i was about to post about that - not heard the album yet, and do like them, but heard spaceman on the radio last night, which i'd read was one of the stand out tracks, and was pretty underwhelmed by it.

my other half loves Brandon though, so i'm sure she'll buy it!

The first track, Losing Touch, has parts which sound very similar to Black Kids' I'm Making Eyes at You. It's a good song.

My favourite tracks in order are Spaceman, Human and Losing Touch. Hopefully some of the others will grow on me.
