Blame the general public, too thick to vote on merit just on popularity. And the judges way of criticising him had the opposite effect, people thought poor John and voted for him instead of thinking he isn't very good and has to go.

Except he never mentioned any names, so I don't see how people can jump to this assumption.
And he didn't actually say 'only 4 can win', which is technically impossible. It was all about there not being an obvious winner this year, unlike with Alesha last year.

I didn't hear the interview, but if he said 'only 4 can win' why wouldn't he have meant Christine as one of the 4 - she's the only woman never in the bottom 2?
