It's Saturday, it's a busy day, lots of innocents around, have to keep it near the top!

Actually, I think it's working - we've not seen many idiot posts over the couple of days.

Well, OK, we've seen plenty of idiot posts, but none of the "How COULD John quit? What about the kiddies" ones.

Uppity-up.

It's also all the peeps that don't read the forum that need to be told - it really is the BBC's responsibility and I do wish they were saying so in the shows. And anyway we needed a bump

Christ, it's hard enough to tell people here, I'm not on a mission to educate the world or something.

Keeping this on page 1, I would have said that the BBC should point out only when money goes to charity (which would be the exception rather than the rule) otherwise you would hear a disclaimer after virtually every phone-in on TV or radio.

Normally, yes - but if there's an expectation built up from 5 years of charity, then an unannounced change, people get confused. It's a Pavlovian thing.

I hadn't realised that no money was going to charity this year until my mum pointed it out to me in about week 2. I had just assumed that things would be the same as they had been every other year and I think the BBC have removed the donation a bit sneakily.

Hey Jo,

As mentioned earlier in the thread it's to do with all the phone scandals. The BBC are trying to be the exact opposite of sneaky

Here's why it happened...

Mmmm... the BBC as a corporate body are trying to be more transparent, yes.

The BBC production team at SCD, however, are being a little sneaky I think.

Yes, being sneaky by

a) NOT saying that something is NOT happening

b) removing the normal "12p donated to Children in Need" onscreen announcement

c) removing the normal "12p donated to Children in Need" voiceover announcement

d) NOT pointing out that the cost of a call was almost halved from 25p to 15p

e) NOT mentioning CiN at all, anywhere.
