For All Those That Have Used The Words "Bullying" or "Sack"...

Hopefully to bring a bit of sanity to this.

John Sergeant is contracted to be on a speaking tour. He is contracted to be on a cruise ship going through the Panama Canal in two weeks time.

So...can we all stop with the calls that a former war reporter who covered wars in Israel, Vietnam and Northern Ireland was forced to quit by dancing judges? Can you not see how rediculous that sounds?

Also, can we not call for judges to be sacked when it is obvious that John had no idea that he'd last so long and had other obligations.

Oh, the source for this stroy by the way is Colin Patterson the entertainment reported on Five Live. He was at the press conference.

I hope this helps and calms things down a bit. I won't be trying again.

so he was accepting votes with menaces, he was just pretending and all these people that voted for him in prior weeks wasted their time and money.....hmmm..

I suspected as much - he normally does the after dinner circuit around now - obviously his agent thought he'd be out by now so it was safe to make the bookings - just wish he'd been a bit more up front and honest at his press conference rather than making it sound like he was standing down from an election

A prior commitment doesn't mean him and Kristina weren't bullied.

Thought this would be a safe thread to read

I couldn't agree more, and I'd venture that it's even a bit disrespectful to John, that a bunch of pantomime villains (and I don't even mind the judges) could have affected him this much.

It's insulting to turn someone as smart and strong as John into a victim by using the word bully. As a fan of his day job, and yes he has been the only bad dancer I've not needed to cover my eyes for, you can tell he is a man of integrity who has a wicked sense of fun. Even with the prior booking (even he didn't hink he'd be in for so long) this was a dignified decision that will only strengthen his reputation. No matter how many times he said 'it's the rules' he must have felt bad for people that he'd got to know having their time on the show cut short.

It all feels very grown up and sensible to me, something that is often missing from the world today.

I do wonder how John has coped in the cut and thrust world of political journalism considering he is apparently such a delicate little flower...

I also wonder if some posters took Bruno's Winnie The Pooh analogy a bit too literally.

I do wonder the poor little flower, how is he going to manage on the cruise ship to Panama.

Not really. Perceived (whether actual or not) personal attack from the media is rather different to reporting on wars.

Yeah. You get, you know, shot at in wars - there are guns and tanks and bombs and minefields.

Cats...before you make your mind up why don't you actually listen to the press conference and listen to what the man actually says? And please don't me thank you.

Another poster (I'm sorry, I forget who it was) also mentioned that they work with JS's niece, who was saying that an upcoming holiday was the main reason he went. Speaking engagements on a cruise ship are somewhat related to holidays, so I reckon this bears the Five Live guy's information out.
