Maybe due to his skin colour.

But I do think this thread is stupid and a bit different to the row in Celeb Big Brother.

How are the two situations remotely similar?

Because it's not actually bullying?

You can? He looked OK to me when he appeared on TII, and at the news conference this afternoon.

And after all, he is a hard-nosed political journalist who has roughed it up with the likes of many a hardened politician (Margaret Thatcher included) so I would guess that he's used to the comparative fluffiness of SCD (judges comments and all).

Maybe it's because not enough people have called the police?

Because there is no bullying going on.

If John danced well/better - they said so
If John danced badly - they said so

They made no personal comments on John, several times commented what a lovely bloke he is, but that his dancing was awful - please point out the bullying there, or do you you suggest I call the police and report Craig for bullying Austin with the 5 he awarded for his rumba

The "bullying" word is used a little too loosely sometimes. However John has been put into a position where he has felt embarrassed and has had to apologise for doing what he was contracted to do and that is a form of bullying. It's certainly wrong. People voted for him, that's what the show is about.

It must have been quite a difficult decision to make, whether to leave or not. Whatever he had decided it would have been unpopular in some quarters.

Far too obvious, many these days seem to want to suffer the hurt/anger etc on behalf of the person concerned as opposed to listening to what they say and respecting their thoughts & wishes.

CBB5 was disgraceful - racist comments thrown in at every chance.

Do you really think John Sergeant has received such cruelty similar to that?

Maybe its due to the fact that the bullying only exists in your fertile imagination?

I think OFCOM should hold a press conference to tell us their part in the scandal

Perhaps Channel 4 could have a Despatches Special investigating the phenomenon?

Don't worry - pull up a comfy chair, grab a few biscuits and watch the show unfold.

It wasn't that bad. It wasn't the nicest thing in the world but was a long way away from being as bad as some people were making out.
