I think the judges and Bruce Forsyth are now being hypocrites on BBC News etc about John now he's quit the show.

The whole lot of them are back stabbers and acting like kids in the play ground who can't get there own way?

Goodman: 'Sergeant was wrong to quit'

Wednesday, November 19 2008, 18:07 GMT
By Michael Thornton, DigitalSpy

Len Goodman has said that he would not have left Strictly Come Dancing if he had been in John Sergeant's position.

Sergeant today announced that he is quitting the show over fears that he could win as a result of his popularity rather than ability.

However, Strictly judge Goodman said he disagreed with the decision, telling the BBC: "I've only just heard. I think it's sad, but there was a chance he could've won the competition.

"If it had been me, I'd have stayed in."
I'm speechless!

He tripped over himself whilst backtracking. He is right though - John really should have carried on.

I thought he was supposed to do a jive this week?

I'm sure once this week's show is over, it'll die down then. At least, I hope so!

In what way a hypocrite - all he asked for was for the PUBLIC to vote on the dancing.

If that's true he's a coward and I feel sorry for his partner having put in all that work only to have him quit.

I notice that they're all suddenly making U-turns now.

I can't believe that Len Goodman is pretending that he feels it's SAD that he's gone.

What a bunch of hypocrites. Making out that they think it's a shame. Just in order to say what they think will make them look good to the public.

I think the judges are sad John's withdrawn...

...but only because they wanted him to be able to vote him out themselves after a dance-off!

James Jordan is unbelivably hypocritical.

One the one hand he is saying that after him and Cherie went it was because the public voted them into the bottom 2, and that it was "their time". Next thing he is begging the public to vote John out (in so many words)

Let me ask you this James, lets say John stayed in until Saturday and wasn't in the bottom and it was Austin and say, Tom in the dance off. Can you imagine the backlash and bad feeling directed at John.

I dread to think how the judges would have reacted!

Sadly, the "judges" (and James) probably don't really understand the term hypocrisy...

i don't agree about Bruce who has never said anything nasty and seemed to understand John's pov - but the others!!!!!
Trying to save their own faces.

Poor Claudia having to manage that lot tonight.

They were trying to turn everything round to blame John.
No previous poor dancing contestant, however popular, has had the amount of stick and controversy that John has had.

I am disgusted with the judges, or at least with most of them and unbelievably disgusted with James Jordan.

You could hear Brucie muttering when John and Kristina were kept in. That was bad.

They wanted him out and the chances of him getting in the dance-off were remote for a few weeks so he did what they wanted!

He's not in it any more - leaving it for the fabulous dancers!
Sadly I don't much LIKE them. But what does my opinion count?

I am supposed to vote the way I'm told....

Do the public have James's permission to vote also on the choreography without which there is no dancing? After the first 2 dances James's choreography sucked, thus ruining the great potential of Cherie.

John stayed in because Kristina's choreography did not suck. James was let down by James, and James is furious, his face showed he could barely contain himself.

This is getting plane silly.

None of the judges have ever implied that John should quit....and when explicitly asked the question on Monday Arlene categorically said that she did not want that.

John like all the other "not that great dancers" from series one onwards, was criticised by the judges for his dancing....that's it. Kate etc stayed the course John has decided not to.

Any real pressure could only have come from the silly media/press frenzy in which all sides have contributed tbh. He has worked in the media for many years and is perfectly aware of how it all works. Perhaps now the nations journalists will get round to actually reporting some real news....my god Bruce on Newsnight... honestly its ridiculous.

Lets all just get back to enjoying the show....if you are a fan of John, isn't that the reason he gave for his departure anyway ?

(And as an aside can programme makers stop basing their agenda on what I and countless others witter away on these forums...it's mostly nonsense and I include my own witterings in that category ...and should not be held as an easy way to access "public opinion".... it's kinda lazy.)

John himself said not. Now, do we believe John (who should know), or someone else who was not directly involved?
