I am sad that so many people are so full of hate and sour grapes because John has done the right thing and withdrawn from the contest. His supporters have turned this years 'Strictly' into a farce.
I just hope that they are happy now that they have spoilt this years competition.
This is in no way a reflection on John himself who admits he can't dance and was just having a laugh, but the votes have made the joke backfire and put him up for ridicule each week.
I just hope that the competition can recover and has not been killed by this silliness.

This spoiled competition has been fantastic. It's just a shame it's not going to carry on. I wanted to see Arlene's head explode.

which is why I am glad he has retired gracefully and not allowed himself to become the puppet for voters who are not voting because he is entertaining, but because they want to stick it to the judges. That is what was spoiling the show - not the fact that john was still in, but because some voters (and I stress not all) were voting as if they were on some vigilante spree trying to right the wrongs done to the world by goodness knows who.

If John wishes to play the martyr then good luck to him - the last part of his campaign is now complete. Martyrdom leading to saint hood - should ensure a nice lucrative few years for him on the circuit.

No you're not the only one. I wish he'd been voted off, but I want to see someone who can dance win the competition.

I didn't think John was going to win; I think he has made the wrong decision (but I also think the media and some viewers were wrong to make such a huge issue about him staying in; it IS irritating when that happens, but it isn't the end of the world either).
