John admitted he didn't want to be in a dance off. Nuff said.

He's entitled to his opinion

BUT

did he need to say it in such a nasty and agressive manner?

NO

Seeing as he would almost certainly have reached the final, I hardly see how he could be accused of robbing anybody of a place.

I have never been so outraged at watching the T.V.

What a c**t

Made perfect sense to me. Didn't express it brilliantly, but his ideas were spot on.

Anton, Kate and James all said the same thing: JS shouldn't have gone, but should have left it to the public vote; James also said, quite accurately, that this position didn't contradict his request to the public to vote on the dancing.

Got to agree - It's a bit rich James critisieing John for quiting when only last Saturday he was indirectly critising John for staying in the competition

In fact I think James is having a guilt trip

John did the right thing standing down. He wasn't doing it for attention. Staying in would have got him more attention!”

More attention than being all over the news and no doubt on the front page of every newspaper tomorrow, plus an extended 'It Takes Two' tonight (not to mention the loss of 'Eggheads')? I doubt it!

We watched that 3 times and still looked in disbelief. Mental

He phrased it badly, but I agree with his basic sentiments. John walking away from the competition is a) a slap in the face to all the people who phoned in to keep him in, and b) totally disregarding the effect his decision would have Kristina - you only had to look at how upset she was on ITT tonight to see that.

John should have left the competition, but he should have left in the right way (ie. when the public put him in the bottom two).

Me too. I'm glad at least James got it and had the guts to say something about it.

Why didn't John just quit after the saturday show instead of giving a press conference in the middle of the week

I stand by what I said before about James. He should not have said what he did where he said it. He chose the wrong time and place and contributed imo to John's decision. It's a bit late to start regretting a two person final. None of us wanted that.

In mitigation, James isn't the most articulate of pros and he may not have meant it how it came out.

What a complete scum-bag. He does his best to belittle John on Monday, then when John graciously resigns on Wednesday he calls him a coward.
I think James would be best advised to stay clear of any pubs, clubs or bars for a while, feelings towards him are becoming most unpleasant.

Maybe James is now thinking with his wallet.
What damage has this done to the show?
Will it survive long term?
Or perhaps more pertinently:
"Will I end up dancing with grannies at the Halifax Coloseum for a quid a spin."

Can everyone who is saying James was wrong explain why John needs to have a 'farewell dance' of his choosing?

Jame's was very clear - what he said on Sunday was for the PUBLIC to vote for the dancing.

Not being articulate is not mitigation for spouting off like an idiot.

I totally agreed with James - basically JS didn't want to go through the humiliation of a dance off - er why??? That's part of the show and the others accept that - if you don't like it don't agree to take part.

By quitting he's deprived another contestant of a place in the final as the BBC are too arrogant to actually realise that we want a 3 person final, as James said someone else will still go this week so JS has achieved nothing except making sure that this series will primarily be remembered because of the John Sergeant Controversy NOT because Tom/Austin/Rachel/Lisa/Jodie or Christine won it.

I agree. When he told Tess that the public would keep him in, it made me cringe. I'd liked him up until then but then I thought 'how arrogant'.

It was already on News At Ten last night. If he had stayed in this week and another couple got voted out over him, there DEFINITELY would be more media attention.
Anyway, the fact that it has got so bad that the judges need bodyguards, shows that it had to stop now!

He did contradict himself, one minute it was a dance competition, then it wasn't.

But nothing excuses the manner in which he expressed his views.
