Need to install itunes to load music onto a shuffle/ipod. (there are other methods but itunes is the easiest from scratch).
Doesn't have to be music downloaded off the music store. MP3 files should be fine. CDs can be imported into itunes and will sync across the music when the shuffle is connected. Shuffle for £32 only holds 1GB of music though. The 2GB shuffle for £45 is a bit pricey for what is it - no screen etc. |

the shuffle wouldn't sit on top. as it doesn't have the same input connector as the nanos/ipods etc.
but i think it would be possible to connect as it has an "AUX Input for MP3/CD Players" you'd probably need to buy a lead thats all. |

I would suggest also considering getting a refurbished one from the Apple Store online. Currently a 1GB shuffle can be had for only £25, admittedly only in silver but colours vary depending on what's available. A 2GB can also be had for £39. They come with the same warranty as a new one, although don't come in the regular box. I bought my Apple TV that way and it's a great option, in the case of the 1GB it's only £7, but it's still a saving or can be used to buy something else.
