It wasn't what he said it was the way he said it. It was aggressive and nasty. I'm not surprised that John woke up at 4am and decided enough was enough if this was the type of thing he was putting up with.

I think James might be asked by the press whether or he feel guilty for John departure as he's the one who effectively accusing the public for voting for John, thus adding pressure to John. That's why he tried to fight back, in a extremely stupid way.

Exactly. If this is what we seen on camera, and only for a few minutes, god knows what John have to put up with all these time.

Absolutely agree. And Kristina was already in tears. James showed no professional courtesy to her at all. He can't even blame it on raw emotion as he had plenty of time to think about what he was going to say on ITT. Shame he didn't think about how he was going to express himself. He may have made valid points but he was so rude.
I would like to think he is regretting his outburst but somehow I doubt it, and that's pretty sad for John, Kristina and SCD as a whole. James has turned a light-hearted ray of Saturday sunshine into something quite ugly in my eyes. It's all left a bitter taste in my mouth. Ironically, after James saying series 6 is all about John, he's managed to make it all about James Jordan! Maybe that's what he wanted.

Two very similar threads on this so I'll post this in both:
John was a grown man on a light enternainment show about celebs who can't dance being taught to dance and then judged.
He was a grown man that entered the show to entertain and see if he could learn to dance.
He practised more often than most of the others, he just didn't have the aptitude for dance, but the public liked his performances and his spirit so they voted for him to stay.
He thought it was amusing and entertaining.....then the judges spat their dummies....but he carried on because the public obviously liked to watch him.
Then the fact of him staying every week became a big joke, a bigger joke than he and his partner actually intended.
At this point some of the professional dancers started spitting their dummies *cough* James Jordan, and the atmosphere behind scenes obviously changed and the joke became very unfunny.
For the past two weeks judges and some of the other dancers, have banged on about the need to vote him out......but the public ignored them...so John decided enough was enough, he didn't want to stay when the joke has obviously fallen very flat for some, and animosity is starting to creep in.
So he leaves....and now....
He's wrong to have done so, he's being selfish and egotistical....these accusations are from the exact same people that last week were virtually begging us to vote him off

I never could abide James anyway - it's always the inarticulate ones who aren't nearly as clever as they think they are that are the most mouthy

I'm not going to criticise him for leaving - I'm glad he's gone. He had become a bore.
What really tickles me is how the public is supposed to vote for the best dancer when the judges don't agree who this is either, even their marks for the same dance have fluctuated wildly on occasion.

Good post. I imagine, but cannot know, that backstage was probably getting frosty with some of the celebs and some of the dancers...it can't be nice to feel that and yet keep up the "we all get on so well" crud week in week out.
I recalled in ITT earlier in the series the pros and celebs were asked who they think would win Strictly.
I recalled Tom and Jodie picked Cherie, based on dance merit.
I recalled James picked Andrew, and the reason, he gave, was Andrew was dancing with his wife (huh?) and GMTV celebs always do well and go far in the competition.
Now if we take that into consideration, surely James IS contradicting himself asking people to vote for better dancers when he said such a thing?
I would have been less surprised if he said he thought Cherie would win, but he specifically picked Andrew, and I am sure he already knew from watching his cha-cha and the boy's group dance that Andrew is nowhere near the dance ability of Austin and Tom?!?!

So if he'd stayed he was robbing someone, weekly, of staying in the competition. But as he's gone he's robbing someone of being in the final? What was the man to do?

He was completely within his rights to pull out once it had become completely uncomfortable for him to continue. As he said himself, how could he go out dancing week after week knowing what was going on behind the scenes? We have tonight seen what people were prepared to say in front of the cameras. Imagine what the level of hostility was backstage.

He asked who he "thought" would win, by saying Andrew he gave support to his wife (who, I imagine, he thinks is a good dancer, teacher and could well lamp him if he said otherwise) and acknowledged the fact that GMTV presenters do well in Strictly - whether he was being honest or playing up to the "supporting the wife" thing or said in jest - I don't think it's fair to bring it up.
