In times like that, an amusing diversion is all the more welcome.

It's a TV and Media website, it's not here to report on those things.

Didn't you realise that?

Check out Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe broadcast last night on BBC4. His points were made about Russell Brand/Jonathan Ross, but the Sergeant affair hits the same levels of ludicrousness.

Not really amusing. I think its a very sad state of affairs personally but controversy equals cash still.....

It was the same for Xfactor's Laura....

We stopped reporting real news in this country around the time Diana died....

That's how I feel though I am not particularly amused by it all, I am sad.

We don't forget unnecessary death, destruction, famine and war. Many of us feel very strongly about all those things and do what we can to help others. That doesn't stop us being interested in light entertainment and feeling strongly about simple human dramas. We are human.

I do think John's departure is news worthy.

After all, tomorrow we will be back to discussing the credit crunch again.
