I really hope we are not now doomed for yet another two-way final following John's withdrawal today.

I think the Beeb should not have an eviction this week and carry over all voting to the following week.

What do you all think they should do?

I fear we will see a two-way final, even though I think the quality of the dances suffer as a result of the finalists doing 5 dances when it's a two-way final (albeit I think they could do away with Judges' Choice and the VW).

Somebody mentioned a two-way final on ITT and Claudia appeared to confirm that it was.

They could put the next elimination off till next week by having a rollover of scores and votes this week. Has been done on DWTS in the US because someone withdrew through injury.

But that didn't happen when Kelly withdrew due to family reasons last year.

3 way semi-final with a dance-off is also a nightmare - so few couples that judges can manipulate to their hearts' content and, as in Gethin's situation last year, he might very well have come top in the public vote but he still went out.

BBC please sort out a fairer semi-final system with no dance-off.

Yes, sadly, I heard it will be a two-way final - this was confirmed by the BBC spokeswoman at the JS press conference. They should have just added the scores from this week to next - with no elimination this week.

Well people got what they wanted. John gone and the best dancers will be in the final.

I thought people would be happy

I think this series need a three person final. Last year was bad enough when three talented dancers had to fight for two places.

This year we have four strong contenders, and tow loveable improvers who all have a chance of claiming a spot. Six into three was a sad but neccessary evil.

I don't think six into two can go. They need to let the public vote carry over to next week and keep the numbers the same.

I am very happy that we have the best dancers left, just not with the arrangement for the rest of the series. The final (especially in a series like this with so many great dancers) should be contested between 3 couples.

No-one thought through the implications of John going.

Does it really matter if it is a two way final? Will the show be that interesting from now on?

Someone who is a good dancer will win followed by a good runner up before which some other good dancers will be eliminated. Yawn!

The BBC must know by now that we want 3 in the final....and the solution is so simple.....as we`v said for the last 2 and now 3yrs; just carry the votes over.

My guess is that people who wanted John to go actually wanted him to be voted off.

I really undertsand why they don't......they've done something similar on DWTS in the past I think. They really need to have a proper contingency for this. This would be the third year running that we'll be left with a two-way final where the contestants have to dance till they drop!

Yep they got their wish. They accused JS of being selfish and that he should resign. Now the moaning still wont stop

It matters if, as a previous poster has stated, the judges now gain control (by virtue of a semi final dance off) among the final three that they were never meant to have.

There appears to be a curse involving the three way final The whole idea is to have a three way final, and there should be some kind of fall back to ensure there is one. Adding the votes over two weeks seems the best way, or having an extra couple and having two eliminated at the last but one stage-to allow for acts of god etc.

Two in the final is unsatisfactory to me.

What is the fuss with 2 in the final?

There's too much time to fill and they end up doing 5 (I think!) dances each. It becomes a test of stamina.

I thought they might bring back someone who has already been eliminated, but seeing as they haven't done that in previous years I doubt they will now.

Haha - those who demanded his head didn't really look very far ahead did they?

And as a result, the quality of the dances suffers.

To be fair, I think those of us calling for his head were hoping it was him being voted off, rather than him quitting.
