Can't get the story yet, but apparently John quit just in time to get a free Carribean cruise.

If its true - good on him. I know what I'd rather do.

Blimey, that was generous of the Judges - still desperate times and all that...

It all got so silly and I don't blame him for putting the fingers up at them. Then they turn around and say HE is a traitor?

Just love your holiday John.

Not just free, he's getting paid to go on it!!

Why stay in and get hacked to pieces by the judges for just being there when you can't control the voting. Sailing off into the sunset instead sounds much more appealing. I like it and hope it's true.

He told the press conference apparently that he was due to go. Lecturing no doubt.

And even though I like Christina, the dance she had set up for Saturday was 'Murder on the dance floor' then they shot at the judges. Might have been one step too far for John?

I can understand she would love more publicity.

fair play to the Johnster after what he has has to put up with from the likes of Aaaarghleen, Deadwood and tonight that pilchard who thinks he's Wolverine.

Have fun, JS!

Just to point out, this trip was arranged BEFORE he stepped out of SCD, not after as a mini-break.

Despite the huge headline and first sentence, the trip is not referenced again in the article.

Way to go John!

Do what you do best - then lie back and enjoy some winter sunshine - without the worry of anonymous phone calls.

Oh John - I do hope you realise you are responsible for the weighty pressure placed on the NHS by your SCD success. The multitudinous ulcers caused by your SCD popularity, followed by a Caribbean cruise will surely bring the NHS to its knees.

Worry not my friend - sail off into the sunset and enjoy.

When you return - write a book about your SCD experience and the knock on effect of your cruise adventure - I'll buy it

He had it lined up as a possible but had he stayed in the competition someone else would have gone. He decided to bow out so obviously he is going ahead. They all have things lined up for when they leave - or most of them do, those that have work.

He did not quit in order to go on this cruise thingy.

The rest of the article is quite revealing - but it is The Mirror. You can't believe everything you read in the papers.

Anyway it's all over now.

A similar accusation was made at Gary Rhodes.

Anyone in demand has a backup plan - with a get out clause if necessary.

Lucky cruise passengers!

You aren't making up the fact that he had a possible lecture cruise lined up. He did!

I have just looked at the other newspapers online:

The Times
Telegraph
Independent
Mail
Express
Sun

All very good articles about John, some with spin off articles. Lots of comments from readers too.

He didnt hide it by the way he did mention it at his press conference. He said he (obviously) didnt think he would still be in scd when he agreed to it before scd started (who would have thought he would be) but ultimately it was not a factor in his reasoning as he STILL thinks it was a 'joke too far' for him to still be there and isnt that what a lot of people were bleating on about for the last few weeks. He has gone and some of us are very sad about it.
