If technique is all that matters.....

Why bother with the public vote?

The majority of the public are not qualified to judge technique so leave it to the judges if that's what is important.

Why not go the whole hog and have professional ballroom dancing partners and ditch the celebs.

Then they can call it something like 'Come Dancing' and put it on late at night for 1-2 million anoraks to watch.

Seriously no one has said all that matters is technique .....but it's not all about personality and entertainment either......all the winners have had a combination of a good working partnership with their pro, dance ability, a journey of some sort and charisma on the dance floor.

A key component of SCD is watching folk learn to and love to dance....but that includes acquiring some technical skills....

If as a celeb you're not that interested in the "learning to dance" bit maybe you should go on I'm a Celeb instead.

The public vote does not mean that SCD isn’t a dance competition…it just means that the criteria of the competition isn’t entirely related to technique but also encompasses entertainment and the improvement journey.

The format is fine .....feeding the nonsensical press/media frenzy is the problem.

A post that makes sense, is that still possible at this hour?

This has been said many, many, many times...

Some of us like watching people learn how to become good dancers - the public (i.e. something I and my fellow SCD fans) enjoy watching this and are able to judge on whether they have accomplished this. This is nothing like Come Dancing. It is very boring to read this disingenuous suggestion again and again and again.
