Apparenlty he saw the voting figures! if there was a 3 man final he would have won as the voes between the 2 best would have been split.

JCD the most popular and the rue winner of SCD

Is there a source for that?

I wonder why he was able to see these figures? I guess that whoever allowed him to see these figures had their own reasons for this, reasons that obviously then played some part in his decision to resign. Makes you wonder. Umn???

I keep reading on here that he was getting 50% of the vote but all I've actually heard anyone say is the public provide 50% of the vote (with the judges providing the other 50%) and I'm wondering if this has been misinterpreted?

I don't really believe it, unless I hear it from the BBC or at the very least a quote from John actually saying it.

I've heard from a reliable source that the dancers and celebs never know what the voting figures are until after the series finishes. It would skew the contest so it wouldn't actually be fair.

I hate saying it but.... Source?

Its all very well saying it; but then I could say Lisa and Rachel continually rank in the bottom 2 of the public votes - doesn't make it true

I heard Heather Small stating last night on Newsnight and even today on BBC Breakfast that John was getting the highest amount of votes. I can't remember her exact words. But he was getting the most votes.

The see the figures, even Heather on BBC slipped and admitted he was getting really high numbers and would have def got to the final. And on GMTV another person confirmed it he was getting over half the vote. The producers must have briefed him and suggested him to fall on his sword. He would never admitt it but when he said there was now a real danger he could win itm he knew what he was talking about hence the reason for his coup de grace

Not quite - I know on 'Newsnight' she said he was in the top three with the public but didn't say whether that was EVERY week or if it was building.

That's fair enough as long as they don't pass it on to the people left in the show. Perhaps one of them did?

Thanks.

IF that is true, it makes me much more suspicious about the motives of some of the voters...and it makes John's decision to withdraw all the more understandable.

I really think it was beoming growingly obvious that John was, indeed, pulling in a very large percentage of the votes. Arlene's comments on Monday on both Breakfast News & ITT, and the growing note of hysteria in her voice, were sufficient to convince me.

John asserted yesterday - more than once - "We could have won". Does anybody really doubt John's ability to choose the right words? It's his stock in trade.

What do you mean motives other than have JS stay.

If this is true then I'm even more narked about the negativity towards his decision from the pros and the judges yesterday.

I don't think it selfish to quit if you see you're most probably gonna win, and I don't care how many time people say the public would have voted for the best dancer in the end, it had become a media monster and I really think he would have won.

Especially by choosing 'could' rather than 'would'.

Is that the same Richard Arnold who told us that Tess Daly was pregnant?

IMO, He should never have entered if he wasn't prepared to win.
