I agree with a previous poster (sorry, didn't note the name) - I'd love to see James Jordan back next year on the condition that he's partnered with Jo Brand. Let's see whether he'd beg people to vote based on the dancing then.

Also agree with most of the OP, except the unflattering comparison with John McEnroe, who is a *far* more pleasant person, IMO. And certainly in a different league when it comes to expressing himself coherently.

What are you basing it on? Just because he's an older gentleman? I could see that it might be hard work for him but i don't believe thats why he pulled out at all.
Why does it even come into account which day he pulled out he may have been mulling it over for a few days but wanted to make sure he was sure.

Exactly teewoods! The comments made by James both on the show and in the interview were totally uncalled for and quite ridiculous.

John is a delightful man of integrity, intelligence and wry sense of humour IMO, so definitely count me as a member of the James Jordan NON-appreciation society.

I welcome people being refreshingly honest but James just hasn't handled it well. To make the speech he did, when he did, just looked like he was throwing a childish hissy fit because the precious Cherie got booted off. He picked the wrong moment and the wrong words but I don't think he's a nasty person, just a very frustrated one who is not articulate enough to make his point without looking like a bully.

Actually I think most people recognise that people can change their minds, however I'm sure that this is precisely the reason you slated James-for contradicting himself?

Actually, I along with many others are slating James for the way he has conducted himself in this whole affair. His immaturity, lack of dignity and unprofessional approach stunk. His defenders make me laugh, when they say he was brave for speaking his mind. If he was really that bold and not afraid as many of his deluded fans think, then why did he not speak out before he was voted off defending other dancers who got voted off before john? Of course he wouldn’t! He knew this would affect his votes, so he shut up like the others and threw his toys after being voted out by the public. Shame his fans confuse his petulance with being brave.

He and JS would never cross paths as one would be in the cirlce of intellectual and more accomplished people, while the other rubbing shoulders with attention seeking wags and wannabes in the numerous nightclubs.

Ok here are my twopence worth:

James is entirely entitled to his opinion, and it doesn't really matter if the other competitors agree with him or not. Also whilst I think that he was contradicting himself on Saturday and Wednesday, maybe he was just not making himself very clear.

However, if James returns next year and is coupled with a bad dancer, he will have to show some backbone and encourage the audience to vote for the best dancer and not for his fellow celebrity. I wonder how his celebrity would feel about this, and for this reason I very much doubt that he will do that.

That's really the issue that annoys me. Every single one of them had a partner at one time or another that wasn't very good, and for that reason they should be more careful what they say about other competitors. I had warmed to James this year, and I enjoyed watching his dances with Cherie. However, his speech on Saturday was ill advised, and he took the limelight away from Cherie. Compare their good-bye to Lilia and Dom's goodbye, which was beautiful and everything that Strictly should be. On Wednesday, he sounded rather defensive to me and quite insulting to John.

I have to say, whilst I'm not the biggest fan of Brendan, at least he showed some brains by sticking up for John and Kristina on Saturday/Sunday. And what's more I even believe him, because Brendan understands what it feels like if you are coupled with a less than able partner.

We could end up being as bad as the "bullies" by the way we are going on about James who is, lets face it, an inarticulate yob who should never have been put in the position of having to talk about this issue in public. I am beginning to feel sorry for him. I don't like him particularly, never have, but I wouldn't have expected anything better from him. He's not the sort of person you would generally have a conversation with but he is a young human being who makes mistakes so he should, imo, be forgiven. Maybe he can be replaced on the tour and in next year's series and get back to his normal dancing life and grow up a bit - but spitting vitriol at him is vindictive. John would not have wanted us to be vindictive. Anyway, James is a minor part of all this.

Another thing, not related to James, I would like John to say something clearly and publicly, once and for all, about the lecture cruise commitment. There have already been statements about it on his behalf but a lot of people don't want to believe it, they would believe it if he actually said something and that would be the end of the matter.

Please tar us all with the same brush! I am a fan of him and his dancing but it does not mean I agree with every word that leaves his mouth. And I will defend him if people are being unfair and too personal.

Heidi B should realise that discretion is the better part of valour. It is better to keep quiet than go shooting your mouth off and only idiots don't think before they engage their brain. I personally feel it is idiotic, assinine and completely childish to sling insults at other forum members and perhaps James Jordan should take the example of other people in the media when they "say no comment". I think Heidi B should come out of the playground and realise what you say in private is one thing but bad mouthing some-one "on air" is a completely different kettle of fish!

I agreed with his points about Johns leaving, whilst respecting that John is at the end of the day a grown man who is within his right to withdraw if he wanted to.

I also think he could have stated his opinion in a better manner (like Anton).

I was simply pointing out that both men have appeared to contradict themselves in statements and if one is allowed to change their mind then both are. I didn't actually think James was contradicting himself-he asked the public to vote for the dancing, and thought John should have stayed and the public continue to vote as they saw fit. Thinking the public were wrong is one thing, thinking the public should have no say is another.

It is possible to have a view about the matter whilst being a fan of neither, I would hope.

James didn't speak up on this issue when Heather left so he appears highly hypocritical to me.

I was once called "fat" by a student. I certainly was fat. That was the plain truth. However it didn't help me to hear it said. I didn't feel kindly towards the girl who said it and don't think it helped our relationship. I know why she said it. I know why James said what he did but it still doesn't make it right that he should have said it.

I love the idea that if James comes back next year he gets a right old minger or a fat bloke in drag!

This is the trouble. It is easier to start a fight than to finish it, in the process a whole lot of innocent people get hurt. Claudia knew what James was going to say on Wednesday ITT, or she could easily have ascertained beforehand how extreme James was going to be with the nation watching.

TV producers will have had the idea seared into their souls that conflict is good television. If Wednesday ITT had set out to embitter and exacerbate the SCD collision they could not have done better than inviting hard man James to pour petrol over flames in front of a record-breaking audience. Many viewers will have switched over from BBC1 6 o'clock news to watch ITT. The result was 170,000 posts on BBC website within 24 hours, exceeding the total after 9/11.

This was a case of the media creating news more than reporting it. James's entertainment career has been seriously impacted. SCD will not be the same again after this.
