I have a dog with a disability, and am questioned and/or judged because of it by complete strangers on a regular basis. Although I know their concern is more often than not from a good place, and they will usually listen and take in what I say, it is quite incredible the judgmental attitude that many of them take (even going so far as to be verbally abusive).
I didn't see the programme, but I hope that it showed that animals can overcome certain disabilities, so that those who leap to the (usually wrong, in my case) conclusion may think twice before opening their mouths when they encounter a disabled pet; ask questions by all means, just don't assume.
