I can’t believe nobody has responded to this thread!

Come on! We’ve all got at least 10 or 20 episodes of ‘Crimewatch’ in our dusty VHS collections haven’t we? Watching those old appeals and cases, there’s nothing like it on a chilly winter’s evening when you’re all snuggled up! Who needs ‘Heartbeat’???

Cussywoo, you’ll be pleased to know that the BBC are planning, ‘Strictly Come Crimewatch’ this Xmas, where some of the most notorious criminals from the last 25 years plan and carry out some terrible crimes with the likes of Eamonn Holmes and Gok Wan.

Don’t have nightmares.

Couldnt think of anything better than to sit and watch old episodes of crimewatch. We'd be able to reminise and say ahhh do you remember when that old lady was murdered? Those were the days! Maybe UK Gold could acquire the rights

I hear the BBC are to release a 10 disc dvd boxset of the best of crimewatch, with special features including, the top ten 'done over' post office moments over the years and a bonus interview with an actor who played a crook in a reconstruction in 1996 involving a robbery at the co-op using a banana!

Griping stuff!!

I remember the 1987 episode when Sue Cook showed far too much leg, sitting on a table, and people phoned in to complain that she hadn't shown enough over the weeks.

I dont get the hostility in this thread!

Admittedly it's weird! but Crimewatch has always been one of my fave shows - the sense of fear of a crime happening, the next day you're totally paranoid lol! i mean i know it's pointless watching the reconstructions but i have learnt a few tricks and it always gives you a kick and a reality check to realize how lucky you are, how careless we can be and smartens you up generally.

I'm not some weird obsessive after the entire lot as this has gone on for years this show, but would love some recordings of any year if anyone's ever kept any?

I can understand the author's post! i would like to see some old ones.I know the crimes can't be solved but it is interesting to watch. I mean why do people watch those FBI files things and they are syndicated, it's interesting.

Anyone got any recordings - i know it's a long shot, sorry for bringing this out again but just wondered

Ah, early Crimewatch, in the days when Nick Ross was fresh-faced and blond, and always signed off with, "Don't have nightmares! Violent crimes like the one's we've shown really are very rare. You're very unlikely to become a victim (but I hope some of you still do, or I'll lose my nice little earner doing this show)!"

I just had an image of next month's Crimewatch.

Police are hunting for the dastardly person who has been reportedly selling old VHS copies of ancient BBC TV shows from the back of a van. He is wanted as several people who appeared on photo fit images in the 1980s are now MPs and are concerned that David, Nick and Ed might find out.
