Dont know if this is the right section for this but I need help getting my stereo out of my Honda Civic 1999 so that I can find the serial number as had new battery fitted this week which has reset stereo. Car was second hand so dont have code. It seems molded into dash. Have taken gash out of knuckle trying to get screwdriver down side & lever out. Please help as silent car doing my head in & have motorway journey this weekend which will be unbearable with no tunes. cheers.

Does the stereo have four small holes, one in each corner?

if so these release the catches holding the unit in place. Poke a longish thin screwdriver down each and you should feel the catch move. Which should then let you pull the unit out a little. You may need two screwdrivers to release one side at a time.

But it should slide out fairly easily once the catches are released. Just hope the wiring loom is long enough and free enough to let you pull the unit out without disconnecting anything!

thanks for your reply but no holes. it seems part of a panel which is a rounded parallelagram.

Down to Halfords for a Haynes Manual I think

Or Google Honda owners groups perhaps? I wouldn't be at all surprised if there wasn't some sort of Honda owners group on the web somewhere with maybe a forum where this question may already have been answered or even an article on how to do it.
