Donny Burns

Who remembers Donny Burns?
Wouldn't he be a fantastic judge, as would Paul Killick.

Donny was my hero back in the days of Come Dancing, was his partner not someone called Gaynor Fairweather?
he was brilliant and I think went onto to be a great teacher so yes would make a great dance, especially as someone that has danced professionally in major championships.

And won them on several occasions.....

But if Kristina comes back - why don't they get Corky Ballas (I think they are currently together) to judge SCD? He partnered Cloris Leachman in DWTS this season and he's still a nifty mover himself!!

All good suggestions.
I thought of Donny Burns because of his success and because he has, or had, a very good dancing school once he had retired from competitive dancing. He is also a highly intelligent man. He actually taught Paul Killick at one time.
Of course, even if asked, he might not want to do it - but he would be great.

Donny Burns is one of the biggest legends in ballroom dancing and would certainly give brilliant, constructive comments.

I doubt he could do it though. He judges many competitions, he teaches many of the top pros and he is one of the top people on the World Dance Council and International Dancesport...I think, or is he head of the competing organisation??..he's got one of the top positions in dancesport anyway, which I would presume takes up a lot of his time. I just can't imagine that he could fit in Strictly and he may not wish to either, as he is so focused on the competitive circuit. He would certainly be a fantastic addition to the show if they could ever get him though.

Paul Killick would be an outspoken choice and would be great, as he knows more about ballroom dancing than Bruno, Arlene and Craig combined. However, again, he already has a career that is very much focused on the pro circuit. He teaches and I believe he may be coming back from retirement to compete again.

Yes it does all depend on what other commitments they have. However Donny Burns has (so I understand) wound down a bit in recent times. Of course he may not want to do SCD which is more to the point. Would be good though. Paul is still relatively young so probably wouldn't.

Who would be a good female judge?

Donnie and Gaynor retired undeafted World Champions which they won for many years - Donnie is a World Class Judge and trainer and his schedule is probably far too busy for somthing like SCD

As for Corky - please spare us!!!

Gaynor Fairweather is I believe now making millions teaching in Hong Kong.

That's totally correct - he just became British National Professional Latin Champion for the 6th time on Friday night.

I loved Donnie Burns and Gaynor Fairweather, saw them dance many many times. Those were the days.

I guess that's why his dancing school is no more? I enquired about classes and then opted to go somewhere local, although I was still getting emails. I wanted to take up dancing again recently but his website had closed.

I'd have liked to have seen him on the judges' panel.

Going back to the thread subject, DB would have been an interesting panel member too.

I know Paul's school in London closed over a year ago now due to some problems with the owners of the building it was in, quite sad really as I have a lot of great memories of the place; but as far as I know, he still has the school in Hong Kong.

And yes, Donnie definitely still has a school, which is in Bickley. Or at least he still did when I was there in June this year!
